Booked directly with the resort for our honeymoon. Booking experince was terrible and they took no notice whatsoever of it being our honeymoon. Beautiful settings on a beautiful island. The property and the beach is very nice, the staff is super friendly and the sunsets are amazing! So why only 3 stars? Well, pretty much everything else is below par. We were picked up at the pier by a very kind driver, in an open pickup truck, which may be fun but also adds just about as much of a luxury feeling, as being picked up in an old tractor. As the driver crashed through the hordes of people at the pier with our luggage, my leather luggage tag came off. Luckily my wife noticed and recovered it. The idea of having staff greeting the guests upon arrival is very good (although you feel slightly "underdressed" arriving on the back of an upen pickup truck). Unfortunately, some of the greeting staff weren't sure of their role in the welcoming part, which turned it from being pretty cool to being slightly awkward... Our villa wasn't ready upon arrival. Fair enough, we arrived early, around 10am. The hotel was 30% booked. I assume our villa COULD have been ready by 10am but we had some lunch and passed the hours, while the villa was being prepared. The villas are nice and bright, without being luxurious. The pools are decent sizes for private pools. Cleaning in the villas is terrible. We had a dirty toilet upon arrival and had to call housekeeping. During our stay, we had to call houseekeeping on several occasions and it sometimes took them three attempts to prepare our room. The surrounding are very pretty but are badly kept. We came across empty cans and cigarette buds lying in the same place throughout our stay, often with staff nearby hanging around chatting. The "butler service" is unique in the way that "anyone can be your butler", as we were told. Basically, the butler service means using a designated phone in your villa to call directly to "butler service". If you have such a phone, that is. We didn't. Upon asking, we were told that they only had enough phones for half of the rooms (so maybe put them in the occupied ones? And what's up with cutting costs on the phones?). That didnt matter if anyone could be our butler anyway but then, what's the point in a special phone? Or a butler service for that matter.. The beach area is a very nice place to hang out during the day with very kind but poorly trained staff. Always collected our empty plates and glasses with a smile but never asked if we wanted something else to eat or drink. We can walk to the bar, no problem, but hey, you missed the easy part. As I am, unfortunately, not a big fan of the local asian cuisine, we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant every evening. On our last evening, I ordered the beef tenderloin, as I recall, the most expensive dish on the menu and asked for it to be medium cooked. It wasn't served red but raw. After cutting the edges, I had no choice but to send it back. 10 minutes later, I was served the same steak on the same plate, with the same garnish (off course stone cold by now) and the steak was still raw. I gave up, laughed it off and ordered the chicken (dangerous choice looking back). I was charged for both dishes. The resort certainly has potential but is badly managed. The staff are all very good and kind and want to do their best but clearly lack training in running a 5-star luxury resort. Thailand has some of the best luxury hotels and resorts in the world, so getting good training should not be a challenge. Would we go back? No but we are happy to have visited Koh Kut. The beach is indeed beautiful but so they are in Krabi, where luxury resorts are truly luxurious and are excellently managed.

Dear T D It was indeed our big surprise to see your comment now as you were with us in October last year according to trip advisor 's record. As you have probably known before you made reservation that Koh Koot is one of the remote, natural environment awareness, tranquility and away from civilization. There are no 7-11, Department store, Starbuck, Pizzahut, etc. Local Thai people here seem to love the life as it is. Their mean of transportation are walking, bicycle and motorcycle. Pick-up truck with an opened space at the back for seating is made specially to transport Ferry's passenger to the designated Resort only. Fancy car or even a normal sedan is advisable to have due to the fact that no maintenance shop , no gasoline station for it. Koh Kood is a place to relax, forget anything, leaving all the bad mood, business, figure back to the civilization places. What you would see and meet are typical way of life and treatment which might not equal or seem to be like other luxury places on other tourist island such as Phuket, Samui. One would concentrate more on natural beauty of environment surrounding, unspoiled white sandy beach, fountain, local foods and a friendly local people. Anyway, please accept my apology for not making your satisfied with your stay in Koh Kood. Please understand the root and nature of it. We would like to return again and we assure you that you would feel the difference and enjoy yourself much more than last time. For your information, due to the wide spread of this pandemic virus, we are forced to shut down our business temporarily until 1 October 2020. Hope to see you then. Have a good health Regards, Yongsak N. General Manager
