I did not plan to stay in Mambo but I was captivated by Dagmara, the staff, the views and the possibilities of being active in this place. the atmosphere in this place is amazing! A delicious breakfast with a beautiful view or an unusual dinner by the fire, all this is only in Mambo view. I rarely say it, but I will definitely come back here and recommend it with all my heart.

We were here during the Easter Break this year with family and friends. My review is based on 2 parts - Service / Facilities and Location of the Lodge Service / Facilities - Poor Poor because of the level of service, the condition of the rooms / tents, broken crockery during meals, not enough portions for meals for our group and no planning done as such for our arrival considering we had booked in advance and the lodge knew well in advance of our numbers. When you go for meals and when you see tables are broken, the dining lounge roof leaking from the rains and the crockery used is broken it's not a pleasant sight. Meal portions were not enough in terms of the meat served in the mains - enough soup and salads and bread - Cost cutting. On our second night we even ended up having a heated argument as half of us weren't served chicken which was on our menu and the guy was arrogant and not ready to listen. Manager had to be called and frozen chicken taken out from the freezer to feed us in the end. The state of the cleanliness in the rooms was something to question - bugs all over and even the beds had creepy bugs in them. If we had not dusted the sheets they would have been joining us in our sleep. Luxury Tents - Zippers all worn out and torn, the flaps didn't have cords to tie them over for openings. Water problems in the rooms - several times we didnt have water in our rooms and had to either wait or make do with alternatives. Location Stunning location of the lodge and excellent Views of the Mountains

Apart from having a good view, the service was poor, food was ok but always the food was never enough for for our whole 30+ group and the facilities like water (hot or cold) not available. The staff, specially the kitchen staff were very rude.

We spent a week around Christmas in Mambo. We were a bit worried at first about the long and challenging drive, but once you get there it all fades away as you enter the lodge, greeted by friendly staff and the manager. What hit you straight away is the view. I know it is kind of cliche, but it will literally take your breath away. On a clear day you can look across the Maasai Steppe and see Kilimanjaro. On a cloudy one, you can watch the fog roll over the hills. It will be different every day and you will never have enough of it. You can choose between tents and a range of cottages, each unique and with plenty of character. The communal space, something between a dining room and a mountain shelter with an open fire pit is charming and you can socialise with other guests or just eat your meals in peace if you prefer. They do accommodate for pretty much any diet you want - one of us is vegan and for every single meal we ate way too much delicious food, you just can't help yourself. And you can bring your dog! This entire place is centred around sustainability. That means you might have to endure minor inconveniences, such as waiting for hot water to be prepared for you, but I can assure you - you wouldn't want it any other way, particularly not to turn it into one of those horrendous resorts that eat away our precious planet. Here everything is just as it should, nothing less, nothing more. You should know that Mambo was born as a social enterprise, to provide good quality jobs for the locals and that is what they do. You can tell that, compared to other lodges in Tanzania, they treat their staff well and it makes all the difference in how they in turn treat guests. Heaps of projects were funded from the money tourists leave - water, electricity, schools etc. Please take some time to visit them. The latest one is a couple of after-school clubs for girls called "sisterhood". If I had to choose one place to visit in Tanzania other than going for a game drive it would be the Usamabaras and MamboViewPoint. I cannot recommend it enough. I would give it 10 starts if I could.
