We always travel on a budget and that comes with quite low expectations but we were very presently surprised. This hotel is right next to the gondola which is perfect. The food was fantastic and the staff really friendly. Rooms were very basic and the wifi not really consistent but we would definitely return and highly recommend.

Its in one of the best locations you could imagine. Most everything about it is very good (staff, food etc) but it really needs a refurb. Having said that the reception area is littered with brochures showing the designs for the refurb and the restaurant looks like its started. I stayed in a single room on the top floor. Very... More

First, I'll start by saying you go skiing for the snow and to ski....yes?. Skiing was fantastic with lots of fresh powder during the week. Anyway, the hotel. It is the oldest in the resort and in places it shows but has a certain charm. Situated in the centre of the village directly opposite the Ratier gondola, in my opinion,... More

The room was pleasent, the beds were small and the bathroom was dated. But....there was lashings of hot water the views are magificent and the food was good and plentiful. Also the location could not be better right opposite the ski lift.

A large number of positives about the Grand Hotel - food is good and plenty of it, bar not too expensive, staff friendly and helpful and the location to get up the mountain is first class. The rooms are small and lacking storage but we came to ski not watch TV in the room so not a massive problem. The... More

Fantastic resort, superb snow, great food, brilliant town atmospher. Overall I would recommend this resort for intermediate skiers and above, The rooms in The Grand Hotel are a little dated but fantastic views of the black run and town centre, and within a 2 mini ute walk from the gondola. Caution avoid Turin Airport at all costs, security is chaos,... More

We stayed one week in one of the two apartments there. In a nutshell, the place is grotty, barely clean, and very expenbsive (260 a night) for such an offering. Would not recommend it. You don't neglect a place for years and keep it on the market for a high price just because of location. Well, in France, you find... More

When this hotel was built it probably was grand, but now it's way past it's glory days. Given the potential of the ski area this hotel demands a top to bottom refit- but I guess it's meeting the demand for the area- cheap and cheerful. We came here on a last minute 'cheap' package. I would say for value and... More

The Grand Hotel is in the best spot for getting onto the gondola for the trip up the mountain. The evening meals were excellent, varied and plentiful. I couldn't fault the cleanliness or the décor, what let the hotel down was the size of the rooms, you just hoped you didn't spend much time in them.

If you look at a picture in the bar, you'll see that this was the first building apart from the cable in Chantemerle. The hotel was probably built for the workers which explains the small, basic bedrooms. We "upgraded" to the south facing rooms for 2/4 persons. It was still very cosy for two adults. If you look at the... More
