HillsNek Safaris is an intimate, luxury tented camp positioned on the banks of the Bushmans River. Situated in a tucked away corner of the Amakhala Big 5 Game Reserve, the lodge is 70km's from Port Elizabeth in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. An abundant variety of wildlife includes lion, rhino, elephant, giraffe, cheetah, buffalo, zebra and a myriad of plains game. The stone, canvas and thatched main lodge is at the heart of the camp, with four private safari tents elevated on wooden decks that enhance the spectacular views of surrounding plains and bush. All tents have panoramic views of the African plains, and game viewing can often be enjoyed from the comfort of your bed. Personalized service and outstanding hospitality is the hallmark of every stay.

Dear Frances, Many thanks for the wonderful review, it is much appreciated. I am pleased that you had a wonderful experience and enjoyed "glamping" in our Tents! Our meals have a taste of South Africa and prepared lovingly by our Chefs. So happy that you enjoyed your meals and that you felt so spoilt. I shall pass on your thanks to Roelof, who is very passionate about the work he does and of course to impart his knowledge to his guests. We hope to welcome you back one day! Take Care and Kind Regards, Renzo & the Hillsnek Team

Hi Samantha, While it is during our summer months, our weather can be quite varied. December usually is quite warm but we suggest some warmer items as the evenings can be a bit cooler on the game drives. Kind Regards Megan

We were there in first few days of April this year and it was never too hot. They provide a large fan in the room which i think we used once during our visit during the day. Its certainly cool in the early morning and evening on the drives. Hope this helps.

There is usually 2 choices for the main meal at lunch and dinner. However at lunch they always made me up a cheese board and I am sure they would make a salad if you want something lighter. Food is fantastic

Hi Kevin, Thank you for considering HillsNek Safari Camp. As August is the predecessor to Spring, it is relatively warm during the day and then cools off by the evening. That being said, our tents are kept very cosy at night. We make use of heated beds, thick winter blankets and oil heaters at night. August does not traditionally does fall within our rainy season. We can most certainly cater for your dietary requirements. Please advise if we can assist further? Kind regards Chantelle HillsNek Safari Camp
