A lovely apartment in a fantastic region near Carcasonne. We stayed in the ground floor apartment which has a small balcony and view of the old bridge, during the piano festival. There are a good number of restaurants in Lagrasse, as well as in neighbouring villages. Great place to stay.

Beautiful and well equipped apartment in the centre of this small medieval town. Upstairs is a wonderful terrace - half covered, half in the sun - where we spent at least half our holiday. Lots of great wild swimming opportunities - our favourite was Rubaute - just a five minute drive away. Apartment cool despite the > 30C temperatures, and... More

Perfect holiday in the best of locations. Truly the perfect place to relax and let the world pass you by. The one bedroom apartment my wife and I stayed in was just the best, the balcony was a gem and listening to the frogs in the evening was something never to be forgotten. We will return.

Dear both. I have to say that it was definitely a treat to meet you both and have you stay in the Ramparts and Riverside Apartment. The sound of the frogs in the evening is also something I love and I look forward to listening to it again with you next year in July! So so glad you want to... More

This apartment is fantastic - an incredibly beautiful yet comfortable place to stay during a trip to an interesting corner of France. We were well looked after from start to end of our booking - all the help we needed before we went and when we were there. The apartment had everything we needed, and all in good condition. Highly... Lagrasse is a pretty village situated conveniently between Carcassonne and the coast. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to live in such a village, then a stay at House la France is the perfect place. A comfortable apartment with some lovely decorative touches. The doors to the bedroom are fantastic. Whatever you want from a holiday... More

Beautiful apartment, very comfortable with a lot of decoration tastes which could be especially appreciated be women. The view from the balcony provides feeling like time has been encapsulated in XII century sent to our times. I hope there will be the possibility to visit the place again, willingly with the group of friends

Reasons why I hate to do this: 1. Words could not do the required justice to the quality of the accommodation, the historic building, the beautifully restored and furnished interior and the breathtaking views. 2. It is impossible to express how much I appreciated the welcome, the attention, the introduction to the local area and the holiday management skills of... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
House la France, divided into two beautiful apartments, overlooks the Orbieu River in the wonderful listed village of Lagrasse. Easily accessible from Carcassonne, Toulouse, Perpignan,Beziers, Montpellier and Girona airports also Narbonne, the Mediterranean, Collioure and even Spain and the Costa Blanca. Swim in the river, go for a leisurely walk in the hills, a bike ride, sample oysters freshly plucked from the sea, or simply relax on the terrace and watch the sun go down. The Abbey Sainte Marie d'Orbieu, the origins of which date back to the VIII century, is just one of many attractions of this lovely and unspoilt village in an area steeped in Cathar history. There are six restaurants, two bars, an Epicerie, a Boulangerie, Pharmacy, Post Office and numerous pottery shops and galleries, all only a short walk from our front door as is the medieval (XIV century) covered market square where we have a weekly market selling a range of delicious organic and local produce including cheese, olive oil, fruit and vegetables, bread and more. The house, which forms part of the original village rampart walls, has been divided into two stylish and luxurious apartments available for holiday rentals. The Terrace Apartment has 3 bedrooms (all with en-suite bathrooms) 2 terraces, one of which is very large and overlooks the river and hills opposite, and a bright and spacious living area. The River and Ramparts Apartment has 1 bedroom, a spacious living area and a lovely terrace/balcony from which to observe the local wildlife and the river trickling by. Access to the apartments is through the Riad-like courtyard. Once a cobbled lane, it now forms the shady and characterful courtyard in the center of the house. If you would like more information, Nicole or Michael will be happy to help. ... more   less
