We booked a night here, very last minute, on our way down the West Coast in a Motor Home. Lucky find as it was their first day open after being closed for 4 weeks. We ate in the Restaurant.....White onion & cheddar Soup (delicious!) followed by Vegetable Madras, clearly freshly

We had a warm welcome even checking in pretty early on a very rainy day. Loved sitting in the lounge and reading plus having a drink from the bar when it opened. Our room was up (and down) several stairs but was lovely with vintage Scottish Craftsman furniture. The bathroom

Very nice evening in this small Highland hotel. Friendly and efficient staff, good dinner and breakfast, played scrabble in the lounge after dinner. Lovely view from our room. Quiet when we stayed (it is the off-season) but still had a really good atmosphere and a very pleasant

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and in particular your dinner and breakfast. It is quiet now but we feel it adds to the charm and guests love this time of year when they can relax over dinner in the bar or chill out and maybe play scrabble or read in the lounge.

Good food and service. Ideal on the NC500. The room was a strange one - it had its own door into the garden and car park and a kind of porch but it was small and rather dated, I think it could do with an upgrade or refurb. Good choice of ales in the bar.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The room that you stayed in was refurbished at the beginning of the season with new furnishings, soft furnishings and even carpet. In fact it can be viewed in the pictures on Trip Advisor, under the listing 'downstairs ensuite bedroom' I am sorry that you thought it dated but it is all new and yet not modern but more in keeping with the building and the highlands. We hope to see you again in the future if you are passing through and want to enjoy one of the good ales in the bar that you mentioned.

Hello Paul Thank you for your email. We are sorry that you were disappointed about not getting a drink yesterday evening. During the winter months we do not operate on set hours but rather close the bar when there is no-one in. Yesterday we closed around 1015pm when no-one was in the bar. Most of our customers come in earlier in the evening and it is most unusual for anyone to come in for a drink after 9pm in the winter months. We are one of very few hotels/bars in the Highlands who are open at all at this time of year, most others being closed completely for the winter. We try to operate a service for our customers all through the year but we do have to balance this with operating a viable business. We stay open most nights until 9pm and, at that time, our bar staff assess whether it is viable to remain open or to close. Some nights we remain open until midnight, some nights we close at 9pm. It entirely depends on if we have customers or not. I am sure you can understand that it would not be viable to remain open until 11pm/midnight every night regardless of whether we have customers or not. Economically it would not be sensible and the winter months are hard enough for businesses in the remote Highlands! We have notices in our windows detailing our opening hours but we do not specify the closing times, specifically for the reasons given above. If you are planning to come in for a drink we would suggest you come in a little earlier, or give us a call on 01445 750253 to check our opening status. We hope that this answers your questions and we would like to reassure you that we do our utmost to provide our guests and customers with a warm and hospitable service whilst maintaining a viable business for them to come to. We wish you all the best for the festive season, Andrew & Gail
