Arived at the hotel ,given our key and told where our room was. It was dark and we had a problem finding it as it wasn't signed . We suggest to the hotel that maybe someone from the help desk walks u to the room, as we spent 25 mins in the dark going back and forth. The room was for self catering use but we went all inclusive. It was a good size but with dated furniture. I did upgrade to the newer fixture and fittings but didn't get them but i couldn't fault the room as it was clean and in a good location. All inclusive food didnt have much choice as it was out of season and hotel not very busy , but it was well cooked. You cant be a fussy eater to eat there out of season .Also would like to suggest to hotel some background music in the eating area, it was too quiet. The pool is situated in lovely all day sun . Water was a bit cold to swim for long but there is an indoor pool. Take a towel as they dont hire out and the nearest shop was around 15 euros a towel. The small free boat takes u to an island . When we walked 10 mins to the other side there was a beautiful quiet beach. But take a picnic and a drink as no facilities on there. There was a good selection of a inclusive drinks , with a different cocktail being offered every day. This is a great hotel for the price , a good hotel the quality of food ,great hotel for feeling welcome and a good location if u dont mind travelling out or you can just stroll local as this is a friendly welcoming area.

We paid extra for the newly refurbished 2 bedroom sunset apartment which is comfortable for 4 people. There is a small double with an en-suite shower and a twin room with a separate bathroom with a bath and shower over. The dining area seats 4 people and the sofa 2-3. There are no other comfortable chairs. The kitchen has newish appliances but very little by way of cooking utensils . There are no baking tins in the oven or casserole type dishes. The balcony is large and sunny with a partial sea view, there are 6 chairs, one small table and 2 sun loungers. No sun umbrella . Some of the light switches had to be repaired upon arrival, we’ve asked for several things to be provided , baking tins and umbrella but they are not willing to provide these. There is no coffee maker. There was no apology regarding the building work which we weren’t told about before coming. Would probably have gone somewhere else if we had known.

Golden Club Cabanas is quite a large complex with different apartment blocks. We reserved a Sunset studio and we’re in block G.
We found the apartment to be quite dated and tired looking and viewed an alternative room however decided to stay in the one we had been allocated.
We’re we’re told we had been given a free upgrade however there were quite a few things which were not up to standard.
First the negatives: No toiletries, no hairdryer (this can be obtained from reception for a deposit), no iron, no mattress protector, the toilet brush was dirty and rusty, loose toilet lid and towel rail, doors water damaged at the base, no safe, whole apartment flooded when the bath was emptied (this was fixed while we were there).
Now the positives and they more than make up for the negatives. We found the food in the buffet restaurant to be excellent with plenty of choice. There was a pool bar serving snacks which we never used but you can get drinks from there also. Bottled water is not available on all inclusive but is available on draft. The choice of alcoholic drinks was really good and there was a good choice of cocktails.
The pool areas are very spacious and there was always lots of beds available with parasols. No pool towels provided.
The Wi-Fi service is excellent.
There is a courtesy boat which takes you to the beach which runs every 10 minutes.
The town is a short stroll away and there are some shops, cafes etc and a lovely promenade walk.
Overall I would recommend this as a good place to stay and would definitely return.

I was a bit wary that would arrive at little better than a youth hostel. Booked through on the beach for 2 nights with 3 children and then looked on hotel website and realised sunset appts are the basic ones, sunrise are better. Anyway couldn't amend so rolled with it. Arrived midday and one of our 2 appts was available, be aware check in is 3pm and check out 10am. we were located above reception looking out the front of hotel. Room was spacious enough, kitchenette was fine for us, although defo need more utensils etc if cooking in there. Anyway corridor etc a bit grotty but happy enough with the room and nice balcony size. Went down to the pool - it is HUGE beautiful and as good as any 5* hotel. Plenty for the kids, basketball, volleyball net, football goals, trampoline - although think a couple of these things you need to be with animation team to use. Lovely bar, bar food seating area - Paulo is a gent and credit to his job. Have a spa which should of used as raining on last day lol . caught the 2 min constant boat which takes you across tiny bit of water, and a 5min walk through nature reserve to the most spectacular beach. Only Saunton Sands could beat it in my opinion, anyway no one on beach although im sure it would have a couple more in height of summer, we all went in the sea - yep freezing its the alantic but beautifully clear bright green sea. Village is 5min walk from reception and was beautiful, promenade type walk with fishing boats etc and lovely bars and cafes opposite. Very impressed would definitely return to the area and have more time and a car, as 40 mins to airport etc. Apparently Tavira is stunning and so wish I could of explored it too. Breakfast included and not biggest choice I've seen in AI resorts but all adequate and very clean and friendly. We decided to eat in there the same night as children were exhausted after day in Zoomarine (well worth a trip to swim with dolphins in humane certified place) extra cost was quite expensive and again not loads of choice but really enjoyed all i ate and children happy too! So would defo return, for longer and get a car. Possible look into sunrise accommodation which most look out to the sea which would be stunning. anyway well done Golden Cabannas - we aren't a easily pleased bunch ! and another shout out to the animation guys, 2 of which sorry didn't get their names kept my two grandsons busy all afternoon before our transfer arrive. Mixture of nations here which i like as all brits etc can be too much. Anyway hope this helps someone, aircon very good although to good with only thin cover on the beds, had to uses the blankets for the kids.

I stayed in the main building. That's pretty old and outdated. More tiles in my room have pieces mising that were still in one piece. The old building made it very noisy. if my neighburs, next door or upstairs, moved a chair because of the tiles it was LOUD. Same goes for every conversation people have in the rooms closeby.
The bathtub has 'strings' comming loose at the edges and the room wasn't really clean. Today I happened to be in my room when they came to clean. I know thst happens quickly, but this was a record. One minute max. No wonder they missed so much.
The kitchen was so small and poorly equipped. No coffee machine. Had to ask for a frying pan. No sharp knife to cut a mango or anything. I ended up eating out most days anyway, not too expenive luckily.
The health club is nice, but a 4 person jacouzi was very small even in this downtime.
It was very cheap. So I guess the value for money was still good. But would not recommend it.

For many years that do our summer vacations at the Golden Club in Cabanas de Tavira, Algarve. It has been a fantastic experience. The proximity to the Ria Formosa natural park gives every day stunning views, and the overall price/experience is also one of the best we know.
This year was a surprise. Not only they kept all that made loyal clients, but all the COVID mitigation measures were well thought without any relevant impact in enjoying the beautiful Algarve.

We stayed at Golden Club Cabanas for 10 days. Overall, we would rate it a 3 star. The complex is predominately a portugese resort. Thus, the entertainment and staff do not speak much English.
The one thing I need to share, that although isn't the resorts fault, it does let it down. The amount of mosquitos is horrendous, we used repellent sprays, soaps, stickers, bracelets, wipes etc to deter them with no avail. Within two nights, just on my legs I had over 100 bites, you can just see them all flying around and they come from the lagoon. This prevented us from enjoying the evenings by the bar or on the balcony. The dinner hall use a mist outside to deter the mosquitos but the bar area does nothing to try and prevent them. I think it would be useful for them to try and do something to reduce the amount and to deter them so guests can enjoy their evening more.
The staff were all polite and lovely, some of the guests aren't and its quite frustrating such as when walking past you on the path they don't move to the side or smile in thanks when you're practically stood in a Bush to let them past. Maybe they wanted a courtesy too?
The entertainment team work extremely hard, the aqua fit sessions are a massive hit. In the afternoon, it can be hard to find a sunbed around either pool and if you are offering yourself as a banquet to mozzis in the evening, after 9pm you won't find a table or chair in the bar. The children's shows don't start until 10pm which is quite late, we had a 4yo who is asleep by this time.
The noise level of people walking back to their apartments is very loud after 11pm.
Positively, the cocktails and drinks were really nice. The kids club was amazing and our children really enjoyed this (as did we, as we got to have a nice coffee in the bar without disruption! ;))
The food choice is limited, that being said there is something for everyone. Each afternoon and night there were chips, rice and potatos. You get the choice between pork or fish mainly. There is sometimes chicken burgers etc for the kids, and there is always salad. The breakfast could be improved, they alternate each day between bacon and frankfurter sausage, then you have continental options (the cossiants were the nicest!).
The location of the resort is quiet, although only a short walk (and boat ride) to the beach and little highstreet. There is a spar supermarket just a 10 minute walk away and a couple gift shops, the rest are mainly restaurants. If you enjoy peace and quiet and seafood, this is the place for you.
Our apartment was clean, spacious with air con and we had comfy beds.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but as a family with small children, we would prefer to stay somewhere a little more lively with places of interests for the kids nearby. An example of what I mean, we wanted to visit the water park but the return taxi was going to be 120 euros to the nearest one.

Today is my second day here. Unfortunately I booked for 5 days. Started off bad by booking what was supposed to be a room with view to the sea and ended up in a corner in the back of the property next to some smelly dumpsters. Was in line in the sun for 45 mins to check-in. Poor maintenance in the room, broken fixtures, dirty apartment, dirty pool, full of people everywhere (no COVID-19 consciousness from management nor guests whatsoever) run down place. Parking overcrowded. All facilities overcrowded. They didn’t have enough capacity at restaurants for us to book breakfast nor meals with our reservation. No soap, no drinking water, no cleaning, parking always full. The only positive comment t I can make is for the friendly staff who tried their best to please us with the little or no conditions that management makes available for them to work with. I have stayed at much better places high season in Algarve for less than half the price. The descriptions and pictures on the site are misleading.

I have spent 10 days in the Golden Club Cabanas in May. The standard of the hotel was very low. The rooms had a cat urine smell. We had to change the room because it was impossible to sleep. All inclusive food was very poor quality. The meats were often old, with a strange taste and the rolls sometimes had mold. Despite the all inclusive option, the gym was charged 5 euros. Pool is old and need renovation. There is no communication between the staff in the canteen. We were told that no lunch box would be available if we were going on a daily trip, but it was possible to make sandwiches at breakfast time in stead of a lunch box. When we were leaving that canteen the other staff stopped us and forbade us to take the sandwiches out of the canteen. The only good points of the hotel were good local drinks in the all inclusive option and very nice staff at the bar. The hotel is focused on local families more than foreign tourists. The rooms are cleaned every second day, no cosmetics or shower gel. Overall, the hotel deserves less than two stars. I do not recommend it !!!
