I have been coming to The Fleece at lunchtimes and evenings with family and friends for many years and decided it was time to take my wife for an evening meal, just the two of us. We pre-booked which was just as well as it was quite busy. This unusual venue is owned by the National Trust (no discount for...

We booked this meal through Travelzoo. The Fleece Inn is set in a lovely little village. The Inn has a wonderful atmosphere, is very old and owned by the National Trust. Lovely place to take friends to a little oldy worldly pub with good food and service. Not sure about accommodation as we just went out for a drive and...

We stayed on the orchard for the weekend as it was a Folk festival, lots going on and the Pub was great. Excellent and varied ales all weekend, and we had fish and chips takeaway on Frid which were excellent and a cooked breakfast on the Sat and Sun. Staff and landlord were friendly and helpful. Not normally our type of music...

Have visited The Fleece often over the last six years and have always enjoyed the well kept draught beers and ciders, especially by the roaring fires in winter or in the garden during the summer. However, the food remains variable; sometimes it is well prepared and good value, at others it fails to meet standards equal to the pub's fine...

We meet friends here once or twice a year being roughly equidistant from our homes. Although it is very historic and attractive, the food always disappoints. On our last visit I did complain about one of our meals and to be fair we weren't charged for it. None of our meals was more than average and I think that it...

As National Trust members we saw The Fleece Inn in the handbook and thought we would try it out for our anniversary meal with our two friends. The Inn is quaint with dining rooms off dining room and passages, Higgledy piggledy with loads of character. We were glad wee booked as it got very busy with most of the tables...

Visited courtesy of a Travelzoo offer for a three course lunch. Pub is set in a cute village and has more character than you could shake a stick at. Weirdly on the warmest day of the year (so far) it was very cold inside but soon remedied by the lighting of a an open fire. This did seem a little...

Dropped in here for a snack and drink on the way to a function nearby. It's not all bad.... The weather was bright but had a blisteringly cold wind. When we arrived (having booked) the table was all ready but every door was open and the temperature left a lot to be desired. They opened at 10:30 (I think) and...

Some years ago we took our Canadian friends here during the Asparagus Festival. Too early this time but the food was excellent again. Extremely crowded with a party for drinks but they soon left. Log fire burning merrily.
