Amazing time in this great B&B.

The couple owning the place are sweet and breakfast is tasty.

If you need to stay in this town or towns around I suggest this location.
Cannot regret it.

The room was big and had its charm.
The place has a parking spot which is very convenient.

The B&B is really nice. It is in an old Bank, so the wall are not the typical wood walls like in Canada. We slept in the room "Brise des Caraibes". It has a "Mezzanine" wiich is definitely romantic. The room is big, and the toilet is very nice. Everything is nice decorated, have a nice style and design.

They have 2 free parkings too.

The owner is a lady with a lot of energy! She also prepares the breakfast wich is very nice. She also suggested us to have dinner in a Casse-Croute "Haute Gamme": le Boreal. In my opinion it's definitly better than any expencive reataurants we have been. Full of locals going there. I would suggest everybody to have a dinne at the "Boreal"... and it's incredibly cheap!

If you are visiting the nation park of "La Mauricie" just go to this B&B!!

We stayed for two nights at Le Manoir du Rocher at the end of the summer. We had the Oriental room which was very spa like with a wonderful tub and lots of nice little touches. The owner was very accomodating and we had exceptional breakfasts which we thought were better than some well regarded restaurants. The building as was noted before, is quite unique. We were treated really well and had a lot of privacy. If you're in the area, I'd definately recommend this B&B. It's close to the Maurice Park where we rented a canoe; which made a fun day trip.

First off, if you speak French you will have an easier time. HOWEVER Martine & Gilles are the most gracious of hosts (her English being a good bit better than his - but their hospitality and warmth shines through regardless) and they have created a most lovely & comfortable B&B in Shawinigan. And the breakfasts are EXCEPTIONAL!
We were on a 10-day tour of Quebec and Le Manoir was a perfect place to stay with its proximity to La Mauricie National Park and its many other attractions, restaurants, etc. Our room was the "Parfum d'Orient" and was wonderfully comfortable, roomy & quiet. The home itself was once a bank (!) and is next to a small park featuring a large rock outcropping (hence the B&B's name). Parking was a little tight but no problem for a small car such as ours.Price was fine - esp. in light of the exchange rate. As a confirmed B&B aficionado, I highly recommend this property.

We stayed with Johanne in September, the first night of our 3 week traveling vacation around the Atlantic province. We stayed in many places and this simply was by far the best!

On arrival there was plenty of parking, and a warm welcome. Breakfast was discussed with regards to our requirements and time to be served. The property was clearly very well looked after with beautiful wood floors. Of course we took our shoes off I would not expect to do any different!!! Slippers were available if you required them and readily accessible. This is standard practice in many b and b's in Canada, particularly at the B and B's which are exceptionally clean and well looked after.
Who would want dirty shoes being walked through their property.

The property was exceptionally well kept, exceptionally clean and simply stunning. Full of character and furnished exquisitely. Our room had a beautiful bathroom, the shower was lovely, and the double bathtub was fantastic. The mezzanine sleeping area was spacious, the bed was exceptionally comfy, with a duvet and pillows I would love to have taken home. So comfy, so luxurious. The other rooms were equally beautiful and had their individual character.

The communal area provided many amenities, books, David's etc and was very spacious, and ou were more than welcome to use.

Breakfast, what more can I say fantastic! Proper filter coffee from Cuba (if I remember correctly). I love my coffee and this was the best coffee I had all holiday, and one of my favourites now. For breakfast we had fruits, yoghurt and granola which was divine, French omelette/pancake with ham and cheese and various accompaniments, which cooked to perfection, presented to perfection and tasted very very good. Again our best breakfast we had.

It was lovely to talk to Johanne too. She is a very friendly and warm person, and our love of coffee was shared amongst our love of pride for our houses, cleanliness, and ensuring everything is to the best possible standard. It was lovely to meet somebody so like minded.

The information Johanne shared with regards to our visit to Quebec was excellent and really helped make our stay in Quebec pretty perfect.

Thank you for such an amazing first night to our holiday, we did not find any accommodation to this standard or a breakfast which even compared. I would love to return one day.

You must stay, you CAN NOT be disappointed!!!! Simply exquisite, divine, stunning, beautiful and amazing. A great stop over too if you are looking to stay somewhere for the night between Montreal and Quebec.

We only stayed one night - a shame since it was so nice! The building and decor are really fabulous, and the charming owner has obviously put a great deal of effort into designing very chic rooms. The room was large, stylishly decorated with oriental paintings, bamboo, stone walls, a fantastic bath tub and a modern bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. There was also a large communal balcony area with comfortable chairs, a swing seat and nice views. The breakfast was beautifully presented, original and tasted really good! Free parking was available on the drive of the hotel. The recommended restaurant - Le Boréal - served us the best meal of our 2 week holiday at a very reasonable price. Although we didn't intend to spend long in the area we did fit in half a day's hiking in the nearby national park - great views. We thought Le Manoir du Rocher was a really stylish, comfortable place to stay.

There are only three guest rooms in this interesting old building. Our room was the Orient room. The decor was beautiful. The ceiling in the room had to be about 15 feet high. The bed was very comfortable with a warm duvet. There was a huge soaker bathtub in the bedroom and a small bathroom area with a sink and toilet. The desk area had plenty of work space. The wifi was strong. There was an mini-split air conditioning unit that was very quiet and a ceiling fan. A small window also opened, but that allowed traffic noise from the fairly busy main street. There was no shower in this room. Parking was easy and located off the street. Breakfast was served in the dining room, and it was very filling. There were three courses with fruit/yogurt, omelets with a salad, and french toast with whipped cream and fruit. We didn't eat again until dinner. Everything was delicious and presented in an elegant manner. Martine was the innkeeper and did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome. This is a lovely place to stay if you are visiting the area.

The B&B hosts are from France and are gracious and helpful. They had a terrific recommendation for dinner (a small french restaurant about 5 minutes drive away). The room we stayed in (Parfum d'Orient) had a large soaking tube - large enough to fit two comfortably. But my favorite part was the wonderful breakfast - 5 courses and each of them delicious! The immediate area around the place is not very interesting, but a short drive away are good restaurants and a waterfront park.

The interior of this old stone building has been very artfully transformed. Having made our reservation months in advance, we had the nicest room at Le Manoir. According to some reviews, other rooms are not as desirable. Louise prepared wonderful breakfasts during our two day stay. Even though we knew check-in was at 4:00, we arrived an hour early. Luckily Mme. Boule came up the steps at the same time. She let us check in early so we could enjoy a nice walk before dinner. We expected to pay and cash. We had no trouble entering or exiting the small parking lot (do you really want a big parking lot?).

Grand Mere has a wonderful linear park along the Grand Mere River. From Le Manoir, walk down the hill, cross the street (carefully) before the bridge. You will see a small marina and a paved multi-use trail.

We visited La Mauricie Park for canoeing and hiking. You can get sandwiches at the IGA on 7e Avenue. The Shewnanigan Region actively promotes cycling and even provides a velo ferry across the Maurice River.

Minuses: Le Manoir is on a sometimes busy one-way street 6e. The best way to approach from the south is going to the end on 7e, only 100 feet from the front of the Manoir. Though there is room at the curb, the city does not permit overnight parking on the street. We kept our window closed and ceiling fan on, and the 2 foot rock walls absorbed most sound. Other guests opened windows and were disturbed. We had just come from 10 days in downtown Quebec where we learned to sleep with the windows closed.

Plusses: Louise. Next to the inn is a small park that actually contains Le Rocher that gave the name to the town. Wonderful ferry man, waiting for cyclists to transport across the river (so they did not have to cross the drawbridge with traffic) who told us about the wonderful park. Bravo Restaurant, an Italian restaurant run by a French-speaking Greek woman serving traditional Quebec food as well as all sorts of other items. It's only a few blocks up the street. We had dinner there both nights. Very much a locals place but food was also good.

Grand-mère is between Shawinigan's downtown and the playground of the national "Parc national de la Mauricie". This B&B is in a great location to visit the Mauricie region, run up to Quebec City or down towards Montreal. Lots to do within walking distance, cycling is great, very comfortable and good food at the B&B and in the neighbourhood. Go for the "big room" :)
