Getting there
Somewhat walkable
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We enjoyed the pool which was clean and so warm with all the sunshine. Also we were often the only people by the pool so it felt very private and quiet. No complaints at all.
The villa itself was charming to look at. Inside it seemed dated but had everything we needed. This included cooking utensils and some basic cooking bits and fruits. There was also a generous welcome pack of goodies which was lovely.
Hosts were very kind and accommodating. They arranged travel to and from the airport. They also allowed us to pick up some items from the mini market on the way to the villas. This was amazing because it was SO hot that walking carrying food and water bottled would have been effort!!
The villas are in a peaceful area. several restaurants and beaches are walkable. But in such heat these reasonable walks did not seem so reasonable. For that reason a hire car may be preferred.
There is air con in the bedroom but the key to keep it running is attached to the door key. This meant it often took time to cool the rooms when we returned. Not a huge deal and there was also a fan in the lounge.
We liked that the tv had Amazon prime as we watched tv in the boiling hour in the afternoon.
All in all a lovely stay 😊

We have just spent 10 nights in Villa Cleo at Monambeles and couldn't recommend it more.
The photos on the website definitely don't do the place justice. The villa itself is very spacious, comfortable and has everything you need. There is a full kitchen, lots of outside space and really good WiFi. The panoramic views from the upstairs terrace are beautiful, from the sea on one side to the countryside and hills on the other. And the best thing about it is the peace and quiet - you feel like you have the whole place to yourself a lot of the time. There are also a couple of friendly cats that pop by from time to time.
The location is great too - Ai Helis beach is a 5 minute walk away, plenty of restaurants, bars and a well stocked supermarket are all within an easy 10/15 minute walk and there's a regular bus into Argostoli at the end of the road (about 20 minutes each way). Elena also very kindly picked us up from the airport and arranged our free transfer back.
Highly recommend this place - we're already thinking about booking for next year!

We hired two villas for our family trip in May. We had the most wonderful time - the villas are perfectly laid out, creating a safe and inviting space for families. The pool was really clean and well kept and the villas themselves were also very clean and comfortable. Beautiful views from the balcony of the sea. Elena was the perfect host, answering our questions before and during the trip and was very responsive. Lots of nice places to eat and drink in walking distance, as well as the beach. Overall a fabulous trip and we would absolutely return again!

The villas are located in a very quiet area, but close to the beach. If walking is a problem, there are many cars for rent here. As of May 2023, the beaches are not yet equipped with beds and not all restaurants and supermarkets are open. It is now slowly opening in mid-May. There are several beaches, all with at least 1 tavern nearby. The bungalows are spacious, clean, have a beautiful view of grape branches, olive, palm and fig trees. The pool is small but enough for a refreshing dip. There are nice beds around the pool with beautiful, large parasols. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to find it. The environment is green and flowery. The sunset is amazing. It is located right next to the airport, but that is not disturbing. I don't know what it is like in the summer, but now there are 3 or 4 flights departing and arriving per day. Ideal for plane spotters. They do not fly over the bungalows, but over the sea and beach. The entire park is beautifully maintained. It is a little paradise. A full fruit basket and a bottle of wine upon arrival. What I'm missing here is a hairdryer and a mop for the sink. Everything else is perfect.

I was there with my son in April and we had a very relaxing week. It's a very peaceful place and it's very near some nice rugged beaches. The villa we shared was perfect, with bathrooms and bedrooms upstairs and downstairs. It was all very clean and lovely toiletries supplied, and plenty of towels. We used the barbecue one night and enjoyed the pool although it was quite cold in April. But still, we went into the sea! But best of all was our hostess Elena who could not do enough for us. She collected us form the airport, took us shopping for food , drove us to the restaurant and back the first day, and gave us a lift to Argostoli. She really was exceptionally kind. And we appreciated the welcome basket with fruit, sweets and wine. She also took us on a tour of the island which was lovely. We will return. But maybe April is a bit early in the season for everything to be open , so next time May might be better for us. Thank you Elena for all your kindness and we hope to see you again in the future! Best wishes, Jean and Alex

Excellent, I cannot to praise it enough. We were meet at the airport, instantly I felt very welcome and at ease. The Villa “Valentina” very pleasantly surprised us, the photos on the website don't do it justice. It is spacious, well designed and equipped. Every detail well thought out to provide maximum comfort and a homely feel. Immaculately clean with very good snow-white bedding. Another pleasant detail is welcome treat: juice, fruit, water, sweets and wine (one of the best types of local wines). Pool and surroundings are very clean. Elena is very friendly and helpful and warm. She assisted us with car hire, advised on the best places to visit. The local beautiful and sandy beach just 5 min walk We look forward to be back there again.

Enjoyed a lovely holiday at Monambeles Villas, we stayed in beautiful villa Elena, very spacious and clean with gorgeous pool & gardens. Fantastic sea views and only 10 minute walk to the beach. The villa had all we needed with a proper kitchen, cooker including an oven, fridge freezer, x2 bathrooms, a large balcony on the 1st floor and a terrace area on the ground floor. The owner Elena could not have done enough for us, even offered to collect us from the airport.

Beautiful and peaceful location. Excellent for families and close to the beach. Elena was a great host. Only 20 min away from the capital, by car. And beautiful beaches nearby. We had a car and from here most popular places where reachable within an hour. Would stay here again if the opportunity arises.

If you want to stay in a peaceful and comfortable accommodation than Monambeles Villas is the place for you. It is really peaceful. You cannot hear traffic, as there aren’t any near the villas, or other guests.
We stayed in one of their villas called Cleo and we were happy with our accommodation. It was very comfortable and it had all the things you will need for a comfortable holiday. The villa we stayed in comprise of a 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 verandas, fully equipped kitchen – cooker, fridge freezer, kettle, microwave, toaster, sandwich maker, coffee maker and enough utensils for 4 people. It also had an iron and iron board. The housekeeping was excellent. A nice lady comes to clean the villa every 2 to 3 days, and she does a really good job. She will do your laundry and even do the washing up.
This accommodation, in my opinion, is a very good self-catering 3 star accommodation. The pool is small but clean and it is usually not too busy. You will really need a car, as it is very isolated. However, there are very few taverns within walking distance. Also, a car is essential as there are a lot of beautiful places to go in the Island. However, in high season, it is a good idea to arrange your car rental booking before you arrive in the island to make sure you get the best cars at a good price.
The local beach, within walking distance, called Ali Helis, is really nice. It is a small sandy beach, with a bar and good facilities.
The hostesses are really friendly and helpful. They gave us a lift from and to the airport, which was really nice.
There are two small shops near the village. The nearest one to the villas, called Porto Helis, next to Barbara Studios, is to be avoided as it is outrageous expensive. We went there in the first day of our holiday, just to buy basic groceries, and we were just ripped off! You can go to the other mini market, about 2 minutes by car, near the Acropolis tavern. I think the name is Sagittarius. They have more choices for groceries and it is a lot cheaper. Also, there are two super markets just outside Argostoli, about 25 minutes by car. One of them is Lidl and the other one is a Greek supermarket.
The island itself is really beautiful, with pristine beaches. It is not commercialised at all, which for me was a good thing. However, the other side of this is that one can see that not a lot of money has been invested in the infrastructure of the island. For example, the roads are not good at all. A lot of them are not paved, too narrow and there are not a lot of signs to help you to find places. (Make sure you bring a sat nav). Also, toilet paper still cannot be thrown into toilets.
However, it is a beautiful place to visit, and I highly recommend staying in Monambeles villas if you are after a good self-catering accommodation.
