Arrived at hotel with big concert 50 m away and had 6 hours to be on road again. Asked front desk at check in when music would be finished as was excessively loud inside but he could not even bother to check - just excuses. When Hotels.com requested reservation canceled (made one hour prior) hotel refused! Why bother to use such unprofessional hotels and staff when there are so many choices?
If you’re passing through or staying a while, there’s nothing bad about this hotel. It’s comfortable, good beds. Good space for your things, good bathroom, walk-in shower, which we love. Good breakfast, private garage, good staff, friendly and helpful. Good location, good pool. Balcony. So, yeah, it’s a good place. Even has its own beach! Recommend.
I wanted to book an apartment for a short (1 week) holiday. As I wanted no surprise, I went for a 4 stars hotel. I called the Garden Hotel directly and they gave me some options: in the main building, in an adjacent building, with balcony, without etc I did chose the option with balcony and sea sight, that happened to be in the adjacent building. What they did not say is the adjacent building is an old and badly maintained building with nothing in common with the hotel. The entrance is beside the garbage collection area (and you need to cross the garbage occasionally). The smell is terrible, always. The room is wide and recently painted but the so called balcony with view on the seaside has a metal table covered with rust, has 1 mm of dust everywhere (and one is charged 25 euro upon check out for cleaning costs!). There may be the view on the seaside if only it was possible to pull up the curtains on the balcony (but is is impossible as it blocked because the handle is broken and covers with rust, probably since years). In any case it would be quite dangerous to stay on the balcony as there are multiple pieces of concrete fallen from the roof and there are electric wires running lose. I wonder how one can be authorized to have people in such place. I could continue (and I have a number of pictures available), but I stop here. I reported the situation to the manager and complained that I asked for and paid for a 4 star accommodation and have been given something totally different. The answer is that, yes, that building is lower level and that may happen when booking online. I explained that I have not booked online but through their reception, I received written quotations for the different options but in no place there was a mention of this ‘lower level’. In summary they did not bother. Awful experience in a place where people in the hotel play on an arguable 4 star accreditation to sell you rooms of lower standard without telling you. They are not honest.…
Ok, so my review is not to discourage you to stay in the hotel. However, my husband and I did a road trip of the Northern part of Italy and we stayed in three different hotels. Two three stars and one four starts. I find it a bit unfair that this hotel is rated a four star hotel. Although the hotel is full of nice happy paintings and art the rooms are not to the standard of a 4 star hotel bedroom. The furniture is outdated and has seen better days. In the bathroom there was a huge mold spot that hadn't been cleaned in a while. The staff was not very friendly...and I was disappointed at breakfast time. Usually in Europe you get bread, boiled eggs, fruit, some kind of meat and what I looke forward to the most...CHEESE, different types of cheese. The cheese they offered here was the kind of cheese you use in a hamburger...they slices were still wrapped in plastic...I have NEVER seen that ever. The room is close to the beach and if you are looking for a place to stay this will do no problem. However...I do feel it's unfair that other hotels are doing their best and not getting their four stars and this hotel is kind of doing the bare minimum.…
We visited this hotel and town mainly to take our dogs to the dog beach at Bau Bau Village (which is great by the way). The rest of the town was a very pleasant surprise so this is definitely worth a stay if you like the beach. The hotel however was a let down. First of all, I'm not sure who they paid to get 4 stars but there is absolutely no way this is a 4 star hotel by any standards. Even 3 stars would be a stretch. Other than the location close to the beach, there is not a whole lot of positives I can say. It started with the check-in where a young lady just looked at me as in "what do you want" without greeting. I do speak three languages but Italian is unfortunately not one of them so I simply stated that I would like to "Check-in" and got a puzzled look. I'm sorry but if you work as a receiptionist in a hotel and do not know what the words "check-in" mean, then maybe you shouldn't work in a hotel. The room was small and dated. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The A/C did not work properly. The towels were so thin and cheap, a paper towel would have done a better job. The parking situation is a joke. They want to charge 20 Euros for a parking garage that is so small that cars are double and triple parked in there. That means you have to leave your car keys at reception so every time somebody wants to leave, they can rearrange the cars in there. Luckily we found free parking in a side street so we didn't have to deal with that. Breakfast selection and quality were very poor, even by Italian standards. Individual cheese sandwich slices wrapped in plastic...need I say more? Albissola Marina is worth the visit but this hotel is not.…
