I've just returned from my third trip to the MBH. It is better than ever. The staff, especially Mandy, Erica, Nicky, Monica, Glenda and Thobs were so wonderful, kind and obliging at every turn. The food is out of this world, so many delicious choices one just can't manage to have it all. There were different kinds of fish and seafood, excellent veggies, soups, starters, imaginative canapes, lamb, pork and chicken on various nights. Breakfasts generous and varied.
As always, I found all the other guests, mostly regulars, to be very companionable, quiet and respectful of others. Magnificent beach walks and sea bathing, 100% safe and all accessible within 10 mins of the hotel; vertiginous, spectacular cliffs hikes, a beautiful swimmimg pool in lovely gardens; the list goes on. The rooms, practically on the beach, most with amazing views, all have quality features and fixtures, excellent lighting, and even Charlotte Rhys cosmetics. Matresses firm, great linen, plenty of space.
All in all this has to be one of the best seaside hotels in the country. Falling asleep and waking up with the sea practically surrounding you, sunrises and sunsets unimaginably beautiful... what a great privilege to be there.
Thank you to all, hope to be back very soon.
Brian S.

Such a lovely town and hotel, it feel as if you have stepped back into the good old days. Everyone is friendly and it looks like the locals are doing a lot to keep Morgan Bay in working condition. We camped in the caravan park with our motorhome and i must say the ablutions were very modern and clean and everything works. I loved the hotel and would like to go back to stay there for a while,

We loved every moment of our stay. The staff were exceptional, the views were amazing, hiking trails and beach wonderful.
Our room was beautiful. We treated ourselves to a room with a lounge and bedroom with a big sliding door onto the furnished patio. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had a full view of the sea plus sunrises from the room and the patio.

We so appreciated your visit and were thrilled you had such an incredible stay. The recent refurbishment has elevated the hotel into a different league but still retains it's old world charm and friendly service. One cannot beat the sunrise over the ocean, a different painting everyday. We cannot wait to welcome you back.

The hotel's location, nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of Morgans Bay, provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. Whether we were lounging by the pool, exploring the nearby beaches, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings, every moment was a reminder of the natural wonders that this coastal gem has to offer.

One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the culinary experience. The baked goods offered at Morgans Bay Hotel were simply divine. From freshly baked breads to decadent pastries, each treat was a testament to the skill and dedication of the hotel's kitchen staff. Whether enjoyed with a morning coffee or as an evening indulgence, every bite was a moment of pure bliss.

In addition to the delightful cuisine, the accommodations were comfortable and well-appointed, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. The friendly and attentive staff went above and beyond to ensure that our every need was met, adding an extra layer of warmth to our stay.

Overall, our experience at Morgans Bay Hotel exceeded all expectations. From the picturesque setting to the delectable delights, every aspect of our stay was nothing short of perfection. We cannot wait to return to this charming coastal haven and indulge in the culinary delights that await us once again.

My partner & I visited the restaurant for lunch, they were very busy and there was a group of 4 people waiting for a table to be seated together. We were only two people & a very helpful waitress assisted us by quickly cleaning a small table for 2. Halfway through the restaurant, on our way towards the table, the manager/owner shouted at the waitress to stop giving tables away as she has a group of other people waiting to be seated. Both us and the waitress stood there not knowing what to do as the manager/owner just turned around and walked off. All the other customers and staff around us who heard her shouting ceased their conversations and looked at us - no one knew what to do or say.
We promptly left the restaurant and on our way out one of the customers advised us to go to Mitford Hotel just down the road - what a wonderful reception we received from both management & staff !!

Hi Roeloffse I appreciate your feed back and we are fully aware of the incident in question and as the owner we have dealt with this in the appropriate manner where my manager was completely out of line and has been dealt with accordingly. I have been in the service industry all my live and fully understand the different pressures that are dealt with by the staff but this doesn't give her the right to behave in such a manner. I apologize for he way she behaved to the staff and we hope that we will make this up to you the next time you find yourself in our little village. Kind regards Richard Warren-Smith

We arrived on a miserable day, wind and rain and had booked a room without a sea view so found ourselves in a room overlooking the car park, not that nice. But the positive is there is lovely lounge / bar, with a great sea view and free tea, coffee and snacks where you can spend your time reading or watching the waves. Breakfast had plenty of offerings and the staff are friendly and helpful. Google maps gave us bad directions using the hotel name, the address worked just fine.

We stayed over for 1 night . They informed us the water is off but might come back -
Needles to say,no water - but the BAD part is that we never even were supplied with a small 250ml water to brush our teeth with, like all other places do anyway.
No water was supplied for us to flush the toilet with as well.

With all this the next day, I by mistake put the roomkey in my medicine bag, they kept phoning and emailed me a R500 bill. I did say we traveling and will courier asap when i am back!

So for a 4 Star I think they should think off a water tank or try to be helpful about the problem. They will never see me again and I will not recommend them at all!

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely hotel in March. The setting is truly breathtaking, and the rooms were beautifully appointed, providing a perfect backdrop for a romantic getaway.
We were initially very impressed and considered the hotel as a potential venue for our upcoming wedding.

However, our stay was marred by a few significant issues. Firstly, we were not informed prior to our visit that there would be no water. This lack of communication was quite inconvenient and detracted from our overall experience. We understand that it was out of the hotel’s control, but a heads up would have been appreciated so we could’ve better prepared.

Additionally, despite my fiancé informing Morgan Bay Hotel well ahead of time about his plans to propose during our stay, we were surprised and disappointed by the lack of acknowledgment or special touches to mark this important occasion. We had hoped for at least a small gesture of acknowledgement to make the moment even more memorable, as so many hotels do.

Attention to detail and exceptional service are crucial, especially for such significant life events, and we were left feeling let down.

A beautiful location truly deserves to be complemented by exemplary service.

HI Lauren Apologies if you feel that you felt you weren't treated the way you had expected to be, please see our personal response emailed to you after we received your email. I find this difficult to comprehend when one looks at all the other reviews about the Morgan Bay Hotel and our staff. We pride ourselves in greeting and informing all our guests in a unique newsletter written twice a day. Morning Lauren & James Firstly, we want to apologies for the bad experience you’ve had at the Morgan Bay Hotel. We really do try go out of our way to make it as pleasant and enjoyable for our guests. Secondly, we knew about the engagement because James sent us an email about it, but when you guys checked in, we couldn’t put anything on the menu because we were not informed when James would propose to you and did not want to spoil the surprise. If he came back to us and told us that he had proposed and you said yes, we would’ve made a big fuss about it on the menu. What if you said no and here we are saying congratulations on the menu. This is something that we are really passionate about and would’ve had a big story for you to read and keep as a memory from us. We have had another review just after yours came through and this is what they said. There is a menu every day for dinner, which welcomes new arrivals and warmly bids farewell to those leaving. We have never seen anything like it in a hotel. We really do try. Thirdly the water issue was out of our hands. Because we were without electricity for 6 days, we never know 100% when the water will start running out here at the bottom of the village. Our ratepayers went to East London to go and hire a generator out of their own pockets to make sure the pump station can provide water for the village. We were really praying that Eskom could resolve the problem ASAP so that there wouldn’t be a water problem which was only for 12 hours. I do apologize again for all the inconvenience that you went through and can assure you that our hotel to our guests are like coming home. Kind regards/Vriendelike groete, Morgan Bay Team .

Morgan Bay hotel is 50 km off the N2 at the end of a good tar road. It is right on the beach and many of the rooms face the ocean. It is a destination and definitely not a stopover or a business hotel. When we arrived it was in the middle of lockdown but the hotel seemed full: most of the customers were either couples or families with fairly young children, The rooms are large and for a small premium you can have a sea-facing room: highly recommended as the rooms face south-east and you will see the sun rise over the sea. Dinner and breakfast included. Dinner was five courses and food very professionally prepared and served. One thing that stands out is the friendliness of the staff ... right from the reception on arrival, up to our departure. If you are a happy hiker then the hotel is a good base. We walked up to Trennery's hotel 14 km up the wild coast, and back the next day. A guide is provided plus packed lunch. We will definitely return.

Had a fantastic family mini break. Great value for money and the hotel is very tastefully decorated, catering for both families and couples. Loved that kids got an earlier special meal whilst adults could enjoy a drink and canapes next door! Prime location right on the beach. Service was friendly and efficient. We will be back for sure. Its the type of place that makes you feel like family!
