Built in the early 1800's the Northern Sands Hotel is like stepping back in time. For a 1-2 night stay it was manageable, even quite charming. The beds are extremely low to the ground and the rooms and bathrooms are outdated. They do offer Wi-Fi but it was extremely spotty from the room. All of the staff were extremely friendly... More

Booked up for 5 nights for work. Room was tiny and smelled of damp. Pokey little bathroom and the WiFi was non existent the majority of the time. Ventured into the restaurant one night and the fish and chips was good with quick service. Breakfast was average. They should consider turning this hotel into a restaurant as the chefs are... More

We are sorry you were not happy with your stay. first we have recently put a new wi-fi system in the hotel and are unaware of any issues if you had brought this to our attention at the time it would been appreciated as perhaps some areas need to be tweaked. The room you were in was our smallest single... More

Due to flight cancellation from American Airlines we were unable to make it up to this Hotel. Lo and behold they require 48 hours cancellation. Most hotels in fact all the other hotels I have stayed at only require 24 hours. We got STUCK footing the bill for 3 rooms.

This booking was made through a third party where the room should been cancelled and not through the hotel directly. We offered to refund the cost of any rooms which we re-sold (beyond even the 24 hours) However due to the late cancellation we were unable to do this. Our terms and conditions do state clearly 48 hours notice for... More

This hotel is old and is showing its age. The front desk appeared to be overworked with doing so many different jobs but she was professional. The room was tired and in need of some updates, however, the food was excellent!

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights so we could do some sightseeing up North. We received a warm welcome at check in, our room was very clean and comfortable. We were advised to book a table for food as it gets busy, so glad we did as the food was fantastic. Had a good night's sleep followed... More

Having travelled from Glasgow last weekend to stay in this area (thankfully not this hotel) we turned up at this hotel at 7.35pm - we noted the sign outside saying food being served until 8.30pm. Since we had not eaten since breakfast that morning we went in. The dining room was huge and I would say there were approximately 4... More

I have spoken to the kitchen staff and the restaurant supervisor who you spoke to regarding this matter as this is a serious incident and certainly not the type of service we offer. Our main dining area was full and the area you refer to was our function room which we were using as overflow. Our supervisor told you their... More

Stayed b& b, booked a double room and got room 6 which should have been a single, no room to pass each other, the room looked tired and not the cleanest place I've been, carpet had numerous stains and the tv screen had some sort of liquid sprayed on it. The bathroom door did not have a handle on the... More

We are sorry you did not enjoy your visit. we will take on board your points and act accordingly as this is not what we expect our guests to experience. We appreciate that room 6 is our smallest double room and we are looking in to this matter at the moment. As for the cleanliness matter this sounds totally unacceptable... More

It is some time since we have eaten in the evening at this Hotel. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely stunning. We had three courses over 2 and a half hours. The time seemed to pass in a flash. Everything was so enjoyable. Thank goodness this is our local of which we shall make more use. Thanks... More

Unfortunately the Northern Sands hotel was disappointing. On arrival the girl at reception was lovely, so absolutely nothing to grumble at there, but upon entering our room we were surprised at the condition of it. I'd read a few reviews discribing the decor as 'a little tired' but in actual fact the condition was pretty appalling. As pictured, there were... More

We are disappointed with this review. The internet issue was an external issue with BT not anything within our control. I felt that your strong demands for compensation were not justified as this was not a hotel matter. As I stated the new system has just been installed and we were waiting to see if there were any teething problems... More

I'm a long-distance walker who was nearing the end of the trek from Lands End to John o'Groats. I needed two nights accommodation that was clean and comfortable and sensibly priced. That was exactly what I got. First of all let's look at the hotel's two really strong points: the quality of its service and the quality of its food.... More
