I came to Scuba Junkie having spent my entire adult life avoiding the water. I wanted to try scuba so I signed up for open water and Sipadan 7d6n package. Extended 2 days for more practice. I had some reservations and fears that made it a little harder than it might have been, but the staff were great. Very professional and encouraging. Stina was my open water instructor and I feel like I've been put on a path to be a safe diver. No short cuts. I didn't compare prices because it was recommended by a divemaster friend, but I understand there might be cheaper options. For the little bit extra it might be Scuba Junkies delivers tons of benefits. I stuck around for as much of shark week as possible. The dream ended a little early due to Malaysia shutting down the tourism industry overnight. To that end the resort handled everything smoothly, professionally and was very organized about it. For that, I send another big thank you to the management! For me I needed a little extra time to get comfortable, and the staff saw to it that I got some extra attention for my practice dives and managed get past the things that were difficult for me. The resort was full of experienced and professional people. The dive sites were all a lot of fun and plenty of fish and turtles. I lost count of the sharks we saw at Sipidan. Rooms are adequate. Clean and comfortable. Air-conditioning works great. Porch was awesome for relaxing with a cup of tea or coffee and catching up on messages. Nap on the hammock! I spent very little time inside the room unless I was sleeping. It was beyond what I expected. I do recommend air con room for the extra money. I personally like a stronger shower, but remember your on a kind of remote island. Recommend getting Hotlink/Maxis sim card for data if you really need good Internet in the room. Food- all things considered the food situation is way above average. 3 buffet meals a day and snacks between. Fresh baked bread items, hearty and comfortable meals! Salad and veg at every meal. I own a restaurant myself, so I like a good feed, they delivered. I didn't get bored after 9 days Great bar upstairs to look at fish books and talk with other divers and the guides. Adopt a turtle and get a few of the little knitted fish keychains if you want to make at least a small positive impact on the location. Overall I can't say enough good things about my stay on Mabul and experience with SJ. I intend to return again soon if the world doesn't burn to the ground. I highly recommend you give it a try. …
I enjoyed my stay. Equipment was generally in good condition. Rooms were generally clean. Food was tasty. The staff was very helpful. The resort is dive focused and I liked that. I specially appreciated the guidance, attitude and patience of ahkmad and aidil who were my teachers for the last day of the course.
I loved diving with scuba junkie. The staff were all nice and friendly and if there was a problem they were always quick to help. I was sick during my trip so they managed to move some trips around the und for me which was so nice! Diving in Sipadan was the best experience so far in my small diving "career". The guides were also very nice and knowledgeable. The rooms were clean and big enough for everyone. 10/10, would do again.
Had a fabulous time with these guys!! So well organized, promptly replying to emails when trying to organize this trip half a world away in California. All the logistics were so well planned, everyone is so nice, Anna, Evi, Ali, Lili, and everyone else who responded to my many emails! Hats off to our amazing guide AG, we had so much fun with him! Our accommodations were great, the food was yummy and we met some great people to dive with. We saw so many sharks and turtles, schools of barracuda, jack fish, fish fish fish! Definitely stay here!!!
We spent a week diving with Scuba Junkies Mabul. We had a trip booked to Sipadan, which was maybe the most spectacular diving I've ever seen, with hammerheads, jacks, maybe a hundred turtels and many more. Diving around Mabul is very nice too, lots of frog fish, stone fish, eels and so. What we didn't like so much was the guides. Local guides are arrogant and respectless. They have no clue of what is customer service. They scream at you, talk rude to you or just shout some orders to you. Between dives they don't even try to be around with the customers. On top of that, they are not informative and when you dive with the local guys, you mostly have to figure out everything by yourself. We complaint but we were answered that locals are like this and we have to respect them. Well, they took our money, we are the customers, we pay, we expectt good customer care no matter who is in front of us or where he she comes from. Nothing against Malaysians, we doved in Tioman(Malaysia too) and the locals there were lovely people and huge professionals that really took care of us. It just felt that in Scuba junkies locals are allowd to do whatever they want. The food is always the same. After a few days you get tyred of the same food every day. Rice and noodles every day. The problem is that there is no ohter place where to go for lunch or dinner. Not even the chance in the same resort to pay for a good meal. On top of that, Mabul is an extremely dirty island. On the pictures you will just see beautiful sunsets and bungalows surrounded by plants. That is not reallity. The water at the yeti was oily. Just besides the resort there is a Ocean Gipsy town that uses the ocean as the rubbish deposit. And is disgusting. Some dives were so sad because you just see corals covered by rubbish. Trousers, shoes, oil buckets, We were not disappointed buy the rubbish, not the resort fault, but we were disappointed by the misinformation when booking. Tell the truth to your customers, nowadays is the only way it works.…
