Amazing room and bathroom. The host was really nice! She suggested a great place for dinner and she was totally right. She even lend us umbrellas in case there was rain! Itis really close to everything, both train station, subway and walking distance to city center.
I found the Lys d'Or quite charming and consider it fine value for the money. I enjoyed the very spacious room and just loved sitting together with other guests at the breakfast table, having a long and interesting conversation about traveling. This is something that barely ever happens in your standard hotel. Please note that payment is only possible in cash.
Positives - VERY large comfortable room, well located for the Munthof metro station and a reasonable walk to the centre. Continental breakfast was included and eaten with other guests at a round table. Hosts really nice! Negatives - Beds were a little firm but slept fine. Otherwise, felt like luxury on a very budget price! Tips: Location - walk from Brussels-midi was through a slightly uncomfortable area with cobbled pavements (not great with cases!), recommend getting on the metro to Munthof. Finding the B&B was tricky at first with no sign outside - look carefully at the buzzers for buildings and see which has the name of the hotel!
Good stay at a v good pricev friendly hostess. Would recommend highly.Room unique comfortable and spacious, breakfast full and healthy. Position just right for getting off the eurostar and getting into City centre
My Husband and I have just left Le Lys d'Or and will definitely be returning one day! I researched the area before arriving and knew this Guesthouse is only a 10 minute walk from Brussesl midi, but we took the Metro which was right at the exit to the train station and it was 2 Euro 10 cents. Buy you tickets from the machines that are in the metro and press the button on the left then turn the knob that says OK to select your language. Look for the 2/6 to Elizabeth and catch that Metro, getting off at the second stop. Walking straight and going up the steps out of the metro leaves you a 30 metre walk in a straight line to this house. Alternatively turn left which brings you to escalators, go up these then double back on yourself and cross the road. This brings you to the top of the steps exit. On arrival we were met by Dounia and her fabulous assistant. We were made to feel very welcome and given so much information about the area. The room we had was on the second floor. It was the large, 50 square metre room with balcony. It had a separate lounge, bedroom and bathroom but, it also had another small single bedroom which contained a single bed. Our bed was a very large and comfortable King size bed with pristine white sheets and pillowcases that were immaculate! The room was clean and looked slightly different than the website photo because we arrived during very hot weather so the bedroom has been moved into the shadier lounge area with the bathroom leading off it and the lounge is the sunnier front room which overlooks the park opposite. It is much better like this as the bedroom stays nice and cool. As i mentioned, we arrived during very hot weather but it wasn't a problem as the room had an air conditioning device you could move around from room to room. That was very good. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh. Croissants, toast, eggs, cerial, yoghurt, coffee and a huge selection of different Twining tea! Nothing was too much for the wonderful Host Dounia. She is one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. She was so incredibly knowledgeable about the area and she also had a wonderful sense of humour, we would sit at breakfast time and spend a lot of time laughing! This B&B is so close to everything! There is a Park across the road, which has plentiful seating areas, a park for children and a large sandpit. The royal palace is a 20 minute slow walk away. The museum's again are all between 10 and 20 minutes gentle walking away which was all on the flat with plenty of places to sit along the way. There is a stunning panoramic view to see if you go to the royal court of justice (with the big gold done) again only 5 minutes walk away. If you like designer shopping, you will be in heaven here as Louise is 3 minutes away and is full of every shop you can think of from Vuitton, Tiffany, Zara etc. I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you!…
