What a lovely spot and beautifully done. We stayed in 'Panorama' - the cottage has everything you need, including washing machine etc, two comfortable bedrooms and spacious living room, kitchen / dining area, shower room. Verandah the length of the cottage with a view across bushland. Going for a walk, there are koalas in the trees, alpacas and friendly horses... More

We stayed for two nights in the Panorama Cottage while driving the GOR with a friend and her son visiting from the US. This is not a luxury hotel but was clean and comfortable. It had 2 bedrooms (1 Q and 2 Singles), and a nicely sized lounge/dining/kitchen area. The kitchen had a convection microwave, stove top, and fridge. No... More

We stayed in the Sunrise cabin, a nice hideaway on Cape Otway. There are more koalas than you can count on the road to Shearwater cottages and in the morning we were even woken up (early) by a koala roar just outside our bedroom window. When we went outside to check it out there was also a kangaroo in the... More

We stayed in the sunrise cottage for 3 nights. Everything was luxury plus. We were impressed by the high quality cookware particularly the pots, modern high class appliances including a gas fireplace that looked real, washing machine and oven. The 2 bedrooms and living room had full length windows with excellent views of the bush and the ocean in the... More

We stayed in the Sunset cottage for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon. We found the cottage to be beautifully appointed (even nicer than the website showed) and was extremely private and quiet. The cottages are very close to the Cape Otway Lighthouse, about half an hour to Apollo Bay and other attractions. We did the Otway Fly and... More

We stayed the for two nights visiting the Great Otway National park and the Great ocean Road and this is a really nice, spacious and clean cottage in the middle of mother nature. No one in close proximity and with stunning view and great acces to National park, the twelve apostles (a must see), the Rainforest track and many other... More

The owners have created luxurious cottages at Cape Otway that are great for friends or lovers to use. It is the little touches that make the most impact - fresh coffee beans and a grinder, well-equipped kitchen, the fireplace that looks real but is eco-friendly. The cottages are close to the delights of Cape Otway National Park and, yes, koalas... More

My wife and I stayed at Shearwater Cottages with friends after the lighthouse accomodation down the road messed up our booking. We arrived in the middle of the night during a storm and Julie was fantastic in helping us out and offering us a place to stay at such short notice. The accomodation was great and the environment pristine. Highly... More

Found by accident in the middle of the night. Very nice place, clean with a lovely host that helped us out with some food for a night! Very good equipped, we even made our own bread with breadmaker! Kangaroos early morning seen in the field, koalas hanging just outside, peace and quiet, EVERYTHING perfect! Away from all but really nice,... More

My husband and I stayed with our friends (a couple with a small child) in the 2 bedroom Panorama Cottage for a few nights in May 2012. First, let me just say that I LOVED it here! I wish we could have brought our dog on the trip, as it is a very dog friendly place. The owner, Julie, was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Premium accommodation close to the Great Ocean Walk. Positioned high in the dunes and surrounded by the magnificent Great Otway National Park, our cottages have been designed to blend in total harmony with our unique coastal environment. They are nestled high in the dunes on one of most elevated vantage points on Cape Otway, close to the ocean near the Otway Lighthouse. Each of our cottages are spacious, comfortable, self-contained, private, pet friendly and all have fully equipped kitchens. They have been carefully sited about 100 metres apart and each is completely hidden from the others by rolling dunes and coastal bush-land. There is magical beach and forest walking right on the doorstep, both within and outside of the Otway National Park which surrounds us. Because of our location the property and surrounds is home to kangaroos, wallabies and particularly Koalas, as well as a wide range of bird life. ... more   less
