We have stayed at The Poplars several times now and cannot fault the service, the location or the hosts, it is simply the best! The location is perfect if you want a quiet getaway, the lovely old house is set in pretty English cottage gardens down a little lane but it's close enough to Stoke-by-Nayland to walk back from a... Hard to find anything more to add to the praise given by others. We have never before stayed in such a comfortable, elegantly furnished nor beautifully situated B and B. Thoughtfulness in so many ways, two large and comfortable armchairs in the room; sensibly sized decanters of shampoo, etc, fresh milk provided, covered as others pointed out, tiny details: large... Estate agents talk about "location, location, location", & Poplars Farmhouse is stunningly well located. But it has so much more than just its extraordinary location going for it. The setting & gardens are beautiful, & the interiors are quite stupendous. The breakfasts were better than top-hotel quality, the rooms immaculate, & the welcome extended to both of us and our... We stayed at Poplars for one night only but can confidently say this is anything but your average B&B. The farmhouse is located in a secluded, peaceful area, well away from the madding crowd, but within walking distance of the delightful village of Stoke by Nayland and it's excellent pubs. The room was spotless and unbelievably comfortable. Our hosts were... More

Just spent two great days at Poplars Farmhouse and honestly wished we stayed longer. The hosts were so generous and thoughtful, definitely a 5 star B&B. We wouldn't hesitate one bit recommending it. Just like so many other reviews, the decor, furnishings and all the trimmings are of high quality, an elegant and comfortable place to spend a quiet and comfortable... More

David takes great pride in this stunning B&B and this really shows. This is a lovely traditional farmhouse where the traditional blends beautifully with the high levels of comfort. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and comfortable with quality traditional furniture. There is a spacious guest lounge with comfortable seating and the dining room has so much character in keeping... More

The description: Dog friendly. The reality: Dogs are only considered in one bedroom (and that by prior arrangement). DO NOT BOOK THIS ACCOMMODATION THINKING THAT BRINGING YOUR PET WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM - IT ALMOST CERTAINLY WILL BE! Dog charge: £7 per night - this will be waived, though, if you do NOT use one of the hotel booking... More

What can I say. Our only "poor" review in 6 years , from a guest whose dog cocked its leg on the hall curtains and rug. We have had many guests with dogs and we allocate one room for this , leaving the rest "dog free" which we feel is quite reasonable. Our "Doggy House Rules" are very simple things... More

This is just the best B&B. A beautiful place - the gardens just looked gorgeous, everything so comfortable. A welcome with coffee and cake (even in a brief power-cut). David & Paul are wonderful hosts. Lovely surrounding countryside. A stroll up to The Crown for fantastic food. Wonderful breakfast (smoked salmon & scrambled eggs new on the menu and superb).... Always welcoming, calming and relaxing. Attention to detail is excellent and food is worth returning to again and again. The grounds are beautiful and we could sit or stroll about admiring them. Our second time of visiting and,we hope, not our last. Jill, Steve and Cassie
