We stayed for 4 nights and had an amazing time. Check in was all smooth, we arrived early and were planning to leave bags and go explore a bit but we managed to get our room 2 hours before usual check-in time. The hotel is an old traditional building but thats its charm. If you want modern and all shiny then maybe try and find somewhere else.

The room was amazing, we got the spacious en-suite one with a balcony. I would recommend to properly check what you are booking as some rooms have shared bathrooms so you avoid disappointment on arrival. Switzerland is an expensive country so if you want a budget room its not fair to then complain about room being small and bathroom being shared. Read small print. Also don’t think its a very suitable place for families with kids.

Its an old wooden building and the floors are squeaky, can be bit loud at times. Saying that we were only woken up once overnight by someone walking upstairs. Most nights it was peaceful and quiet.

The restaurant was amazing and I cannot praise the chef enough. I need a strict gluten free diet and the hotel made sure I had appropriate breakfast provided every day. The chef was happy to tweak some dinners so I could eat it as well, however plenty of yummy gluten free options available on a standard menu. Absolutely loved rostis and couldn’t get enough of it.

Its a very convenient location, about 2-3 min walk from the Wilderswil train station. There are some walks locally as well. We did a long lovely walk locally passing by an old church and along the river.

Overall we would def be happy to stay there again.

We deliberately chose one of the few ensuite rooms in the Edelweiss Lodge with a balcony, which was very clean and spacious, with a slightly old fashioned feel. It's a lovely old traditional wooden building which does creak when people move around to use the shared bathrooms, but it didn't disturb us at night, and there's a lot to recommend it.
The breakfast had a fabulous choice, including really super Bircher muesli with yogurt and fruit, and fresh fruit salad, and a wide selection of tasty bread, ham and cheese. We also ate dinner there most evenings as there was a good choice and it was better value than most places we saw, and we were offered a discount as residents of the hotel.
The garden behind the hotel is stunning with a view of the Jungfrau, and we were able to eat out there several mornings and evenings, as well as using the outdoor spa.
The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the railway station which is ideal for exploring the Bernese Oberland by public transport.

The hotel is located on a quiet side street in Wiilderswil, just a short ride to Interlaken.
Check in was quick and staff were friendly and helpful about local attractions. Free passes were given for local transportation. Our second floor room, was traditionally furnished, chalet style and came with a balcony. The view was great, from the snow capped mountains, to the beautiful gardens. The shared bathroom was no problem, as there are 4 for 11 rooms ?
Free parking is available. Breakfast was decent with a good variety. Overall a great stay for trips to the Jungfrau region

I had such a great experience here and will be staying here again when I go back to this region of Switzerland. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. I was nervous about the shared bathrooms, but never had to wait. The garden and jacuzzi were lovely and we had a wonderful view of the alps. The restaurant was also quite good and reasonably priced. I ate the best alpermagronen here out of all the other places I tried. The per night price is so good for what you get and I would expect to pay more for this property.

We stayed at this hotel one night in August 2018.

Superficially it looks fine but in reality it isn't. We have stayed in older Swiss and Austrian chalets and they are invariably charming with delightful period furniture to match. Not this one. It is just plain old and tatty. Our room was furnished with a mishmash of old furniture, none of which matched, and was only fit for the scrap heap. There is no sound deadening to speak of so noisy neighbours will keep you awake.

The common areas were equally poor with wood covered in layers of chipped chocolate brown and cream paint. You get the idea.

At breakfast the middle aged lady serving and clearing tables didn't make any effort to greet any of the guests and was surly when asked for some drinking chocolate by one guest. She did bring it but just threw the powder sachet down on the table and walked away.

In a word awful.

Far, far too expensive for such a tatty hotel. Not recommended !

This is a small restaurant and bar in the heart of the village. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is much higher than more expensive restaurants in the area. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, and always make us feel very welcome.

Cheap and located at a very convenient location, just a few minutes walk from Wilderswil station.

There is a clear signage located at opposite of the ticketing office of the station.

If you are going to Jungfraujoch, Mt. First, Grindelwald......it's a good choice to stay at Wilderswil (at a lower price compared to those at interlaken) as the trains must bypass this beautiful place.

Receptionist will give u a travel card to travel to/back from interlaken ost.

My Room was on the 3/F, clean with a balcony. Shared toilets located on 1/F and 2/F only. I found the shower place is bigger at the one on the 2/F. That's why comments said the shower place is very small (that's the one on the 1/F) whereas someone said it's spacious.. You can use anyone of them.

There is no lift. It was harsh for us to carry the heavy luggage climbing up to the 3/F.

Breakfast is nice with cereals, toast, eggs, ham and cheese, fruits.

We have our dinner at their restaurant, it's delicious. We have rosti, chicken wings and salad which looks great and taste very good.

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and we occupied the private bathroom unit. We love the vintage feel and the traditional Swiss home experience. The staffs are all friendly especially Anze who is very polite and friendly. He helped us to carry the luggage to our unit. The hotel is very near to the train/ bus station (2-4 minutes) and perfect to be the base for your excursion in Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Murren or Grindelwald.
Highly recommended only if you want to experience the traditional Swiss home. The unit is linked to Alpen Rose hotel (same owner) which looks abit modern. The surrounding location is very beautiful and peaceful. We definitely will come back one day!

The train from interlaken to wilderswil will take you to edelweiss lodge. It's a few minute walk from the train station super easy to find. It's not very expensive. I don't know the answer to the last part of your question.
Answer from ETreadwell

the shared bathroom was located centrally and served 3 room, so no it wasn't an issue, there is a bathroom with a shower and toilet, then another separate toilet next door. All rooms have sinks in them too which is handy! I wouldnt let this put you off staying!
