Good option for a few days stay near San Jose, before leaving Costa Rica. In can be noisy in the night when people are arriving or leaving but price is very accessible and location is nice. Recommended.
I’ve been wanting to stay at Luisiana for quite some time. As a regular traveler from the Pacific Coast into the metropolitan area, we are constantly looking for affordable, yet well located and overall good accommodations. And we did find all of the above. Well priced, clean, attentive staff and nice rooms. I think Luisiana is a great option for expats or coastal area locals (Pacific side) who need a place to stay while doing business, medical or any kind of visit to the capital.
Our family stay 1 night. When we arrived you could immediately smell a lack of a cleaning being done in the rooms. The bathroom walls above the mirror had mold growing within the inside of bathroom. Additionally, within the bathroom they had mold growing in the tile floor and tiled walls… very disturbing. We noticed that some of our sheets on the 2 advertised queen beds that are not queen bed size but actually double size beds had stains on them. We had to mix and match unstained sheets with stained sheets to enable us to have 1 double bed that didn’t have stained sheets. We never complained we just went forward with the process and made do with 1 double bed. But, to top this off the next morning during our check out the house keeping inspects the towels for any stains but avoids checking sheets for stains. I happen to eat a Subway sandwich the night after checking in. I used a bathroom hand towel to use as a napkin to wipe my mouth while eating which left small amounts of food on the hand towel that I wiped from my mouth. The next morning during check out within the lobby I was told that I had to pay $10.00 extra because I left food on the towel or I could take the towel into the bathroom and manually wash the towel in the bathroom sink in the lobby to avoid paying $10 extra. So, I went into the bathroom lobby sink and wash the towel with my hands. When I finished the washing of the towel the guy at the desk then said he had to have “house keeping” inspect my washing job I did on this single hand towel The house keeping inspector passed my wash job in the lobby and I wasn’t charged $10 extra. Amazing how the house keeper inspector inspects my single hand towel when she doesn’t inspect stained bed sheets nor does she clean good enough to remove mold from bathroom walls and floors…. All I can say for anyone wanting to stay here to future customers is don’t use the towels or you be forced to clean them or pay extra for the use of towels…. And do a huge, detailed inspection when you initially arrive in your room for the night stay Oh,…. And they allow large dogs to stay there that bark outside very early in the morning time…. Don’t plan on sleeping past 6am or the dogs will wake you up.…
Really nice Hotel! We loved the nice and quiet pool to relax, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous and 24/7 at the reception. The food of the restaurant was delicious and directly delivered to the room. We would always come again!
I stayed with my wife and daughter, the place is a bit rustic but it is fine, the internet did not reach the room. The bed was very soft and generated back pains. Excellent cleanliness of the place, the staff and the pool. overall recommendation 7/10
Beautiful place, staff and services, I really enjoyed. I Visites it with my couple and we agree is a very good place to spend time together and stay away from stress. Thanks a lot for everything and the attention!!!
I’ve been staying at Hotel Luisiana for years. It is always a reliable spot to rest. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and able to help out with whatever you need. They also have a new menu that we were impressed with. We will continue to stay when we come through San Jose! Thanks!
I have stayed at this property half a dozen times (pre-Covid), and it was my go-to place when I had to come up to Santa Ana, but was shocked by my visit this week. Something has evidently happened to its client base as the whole property has signs referencing the penalties for property damage and theft. Not only was a damage deposit required on check-in, but I had to sign a log certifying that I had read their hotel policies. Then I was escorted to my room by a person who then checked and counted the number of towels in the room, the number of glasses provided, the contents of the mini-bar, the remote controls etc, and then I had to sign that they all were as counted. In the bathroom above the door was a huge orange sign advising the cost of damaging or taking towels and other equipment from the room, and similar huge warning signs were placed below the check-in desk in the lobby. A similar "inspection" took place before I was allowed to check out. This is a very bad sign and I will not visit this property again, because of this, as I will not be treated as a "potential criminal". Furthermore the breakfast was not as advertised and the service of it bad mannered and grumpy. No, this place has changed - such a shame…
I don’t understand some of the negative comments here. Yes it is an older hotel, but it is extremely clean. The beds are amazingly comfortable and everyone we came in contact with has been amazing! When we asked for something, someone was at our door within minutes. I liked it so much that I extended our stay. I came to Costa Rica to experience the local culture. If you’re looking for a 5-star American-style hotel, rent a room at one of the American hotels.
