Being just 500 mt away from Kalokudo gate, the lodge is literally on a stone's throw from the Park. It offers unparalled vistas of the expansive Narus Valley, Mount Morungole and the distant mountain ranges which form the border with Southern Sudan. The lodge is inspired by the savannah surroundings, the grasslands, rocky outcrops, and ... by the karamajong, the tribe with their typical manyatta

This is a superb location for game drives and the accommodation was excellent. Not only was the food very good but we were very impressed with the staff who could not have been friendly and more helpful.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights (Sept 10th & 11th). The setting is amazing with the most beautiful views out to the grasslands of the park from the restaurant and terrace bar area. The food was good and the staff was very friendly. They even made popcorn for us to enjoy with our drinks on the terrace. That was a nice touch. We did have two different experiences with regards to rooms. The first night we were placed in the Buffalo Room which had 2 single beds and no mirror in the bathroom which was frustrating (we were supposed to be in a double room). The next morning we were moved to the Owl Room which had a comfortable double bed and a nice mirror in the bathroom area. Unfortunately we did run out of hot water and also ended up with cold showers. In spite of this, we still loved this lodge and would return again without hesitation. We were glad we stayed two nights even though we would have enjoyed the proper room on our first night.

Savannah Lodge is a beautiful character lodge set on a hill beside savanna grasslands. The glamping tents and bathroom facilities are outstanding. And the food was done of the best I ate in Uganda. I would come and stay again even without a safari. But hearing lions roaring at night less than a km away was incredible. Highly recommended

Review collected in partnership with this hotel
We were recommended Savannah by a tour company. The tents were very comfortable, didn't get hot in the sun and had wall sockets for charging. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The staff were amazing, a real highlight for me. Very friendly, exceptionally helpful. The food was consistently great and exceeded my expectations. The location and views were just stunning - from the restaurant and the tents. It's technically not inside the gated area of the park, but you can see clearly across the savannah and wildlife comes close to the camp-site (although I'd add its well guarded by staff at night). There's a lion pride which lives close by which we could see by day with a telescope. Because it's not inside the gated part of the park, you don't have to pay the park fee except for the days you actually do a game drive (as opposed to the cheaper UWA bandas at Apoka Rest Camp which you must pay a park fee to use). That worked out well for us, as paid for one day's park fee but stayed two nights.

We had a wonderful stay at Kidepo Savanna lodge. The tents were comfortable, the food was good and the staff very helpful. Even a gluten-free dish was no problem. Overlooking Kidepo Valley National Park was like I was dreaming!
