We enjoyed our stay at Yamamizuki this past December. This property is located a bit out of the town but we loved the quiet and secluded location. The building is a charming Japanese house with nice scenery all around. The hot springs are excellent, especially the outdoor one. The staff were very attentive and asked about our arrival and departure...

Yamamizuki is the most popular and the most beautiful outdoor Onsen in Kurokawa. It is quite far from town center, but There is a free shuttle bus just across the street from tourist information center. Outdoor Onsen is gorgeous. The hot-spring is right by the river. Indoor Onsen is even more amazing (to our surprise). It is something you must...

What an amazing place. Dinner and breakfast go down as two of the best meals we have ever eaten, so authentic and amazing local flavors. A real experience. The outdoor onsen were also the nicest I have seen in 3 Japan trips. Gorgeous setting next to river / waterfalls and nothing to make you doubt the cleanliness of the water....

This was my second time at Yamamizuki. Had a wonderful time on the first visit. Second visit was spoilt by a very rude service staff; an old lady with a name like Zhangzhi? We were treated very curtly on arrival as if we were morons or something. For someone who has visited many ryokans over the years and understand ryokan...

I have been to three ryokans with both private and public onsens during my Kyushu trip and I have to admit that Yamamizuki is by far the best of the best of all I have ever been to. Starting with a pickup van from Kurokawa Onsen bus stop, the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. He gave us a...

About 15 min drive from the Kurokawa town center. This Ryokan is up in the hills and nested in nature. They are known for their spectacular huge outdoor onsen by the stream. It was a dream came through to bath in total nature. No artificial screen was needed to protect our privacy as it faces a remote hilly wood. The...

Probably the ryokan with the most beautiful onsen in the whole of Kurokawa (easily top 10 in the whole of Japan)! The male only onsen is located just next to the stream. For the ladies, it will be a 1 min walking naked from the indoor onsen to the beautiful outdoor onsen. Dinner and breakfast are amazingly high quality. Our...

My friend and I stay 1 night here in Kurokawa. When we reached parking lot, the staff quickly came close to us and guide kindly our car to park in the right spot. The staff was really friendly and attentive. Though the staff don't speak English much, but they were trying to speak in English. I felt like home away...

This onsen ryokan excels in trying define the meaning of Japanese hospitality. Distanced away from the Kurokawa onsen town proper. Yet, it makes up for it by being away from large tour groups, excellent in-house onsen, and hospitality second to none. Recommend this hideaway onsen resort that mains to please in any manner. The rooms were large and well furnished....
