Stayed here for two nights which we would highly recommend anyone to do in an Onsen village. Many people stay one night so the feel when you have the second day is amazing. As in most Japanese luxury Ryokan the arrival service is impeccable with all explanations and welcome tea as well as a tour of your room. Anything they...

Wakaba is a perfect ryokan!! Although the price is quite high, it is the best experience for this trip. The staffs are really helpful. They reserved buses for us to and from Kurokawa. They picked us up from the bus station even though the ryokan is 10 mins away by walk. Dinner is superb. I did not expect high quality...

Absolutely amazing to describe to this hotel. We're reserved one night with meals. Start from the parking, reception, guest room & meals. All those things are high expectations. The staff called Ms Hitomi did a great job during our stay. She welcomed us when check in, serve the dinner & breakfast with warm hospitality. The full course Japanese dinner is...

We drove for more than 2 hours from Fukuoka but it was well worth the trip. We were lucky to encounter some flurries on the way there in our minivan for 6 persons but the road conditions were good and easy. We were warmly welcomed and had a lovely Soba lunch in restaurant next to the inn. Our room had...

Actually it was second time to visit Kurokawa onsen. It is small town but has all you need. Ryokan Wakaba staffs are really friendly and provide great services. (There is a Korean staff as well.) The outdoor and private hotspring were extremely great. You can take a bath as opening the window and breathing fresh air. I hope you enjoy...

The moment we arrived at Ryokan Wakaba we were greeted with great hospitality – I remember it was raining heavily and the staff helped us with our car and our luggages so that we did not have to worry about a thing. When we reached they explained everything in detail to us. There was hot red bean soup at the...

Staff attitude and service is fantastic. Clean minimal room. Table in centre of room by day.and futon in centre of room by night. Staff are discreet. You won't see them. They change over when you are at dinner or at breakfast. First night we had our kaiseki in our room and requested our second dinner be in the main dining...

Authentic look. Nice rooms. Friendly staff. Excellent meal. One of the prettiest onsens in the village. If I had to say something negative: room lighting is a bit poor. Had a florescent light in the main room. A couple paper lanterns or at least a yellow lightbulb would have looked much better. Room was otherwise very nice, classical Japanese-style and...

I stayed here for one nite, having driven from Nagasaki via Aso. Staff here are extremely friendly. I didn't book dinner here and the staff were very quick to help me sort something out. Most shops and restaurants at Kurokawa Onsen shut at 6pm. I had a nice dinner at a place called Naka, which shuts at 9pm. Naka offers...

We decided to continue to the original plan of staying here even after the recent earthquakes in Kumamoto as a gesture of support. The ryokan did not suffer much damage and we were probably the only family staying on that night. The room we booked was HUGE and comes with a private onsen bath. It was a very comfortable stay...

Thank you for staying at Wakaba, even quite soon after the earthquakes. We are operating as normal but it is still very quiet and we hope more guests will take the opportunity to make a booking now or in the near future.
