We were happy about the rooms and the variety of onsens at this hotel. However, we were not impressed with their dinner. Their breakfast buffet was not very impressive either. So, if you could choose a no meal option, perhaps you would be better off eating outside. There is a yummy looking yakitori place which locates about two minutes (on...

The hotel has plenty of rooms for guests, with two buildings - Sansui and Hiten. The front desk is very attentive when we need help. The hot spring is large and there is a medicine spring available. There is a small game corner and Wii available for lending. The food was superb. 10-tatami Japanese room is adequate for 3 adults....

If Kotohira Shrine is on your itinerary, I would suggest putting Kotosankaku into it as well. It is the biggest hotel in Kotohira featuring 'One night stay with two meals' packages. With an onsen attached to it, you can surely unwind yourself after climbing the 700 steps to the Shrine in the morning/afternoon. The price is very reasonable when compared...

First a real shock with these huge hotel buildings and a large shop in the main lobby. A real maze to get to the bedroon, but the corridors are best in class as far as decorations: costumes and wall paintings. The room was quite large with 2 western armchairs and good wifi. Japanese dinner was delicious. Oustanding service, hotel had...

Enormous hotel that caters to tour groups in busses. Attached hotsprings offer many different baths, showerhead in bathroom was nice. Breakfast soso. Too much noise from hallway in American style room.

We stayed at this Ryokan for one night, only. The very spacious tatami room has a tokonoma (hanging scroll) and a bay area with a small table and two western style chairs (one wide, the other one small). It also has a flat screen TV and a safe. While you are at dinner staff will make up your room and...

Wonderful Japanese hospitality expected with unique view from room. Good outside bath experience at top floor. Colorful and pretty meal presentation. Considering from this size and location, more bilingual signage should considered.

This is a wonderful hotel. JR Kotohira Station is within walking distance. The hotel also provides shuttle services to/from the Station. Take the package with breakfast and inner. The breakfast is of buffet type. Not fantastic but good enough. Sometimes can be a bit crowded. But the dinner is great. Not Buffet type but a proper Kaiseki Cuisine. It would...

When we arrived we were given a western style room. It was unchanged from the fifties and the whole floor smelled of smoke. After we had a good giggle I went to the front desk and very politely asked if we could have a tatami room. For a very reasonable upgrade fee we were moved and 10 minutes later we...

It's a huge Japanese style resort nested in the woods. The room was big with sliding doors, very Japanese, very clean. Sleaping on a tatami is not for everyone, but there were additional futon mats in the closet in the room for people who had difficulties. The pillows are buckwheat shell filled and they are incredible. There were yukatas in...
