Benesse House is more than just a hotel as words describe it. It's a building complex developed by Tadao Ando in accordance with artists creating a space around their artwork. As an architect I enjoyed both form and function of each building, but was surprised by the art pieces created by this masters. The four museums are Lee Ufan, Chichu,... More

It's a 5* hotel, but why haven't I given it a 5* review? If you read other reviews you'll see that it's the restaurants that let the complex down, and I certainly hadn't exactly understood the dining arrangements before we arrived. I knew the Japanese restaurant was going to be expensive, but I hadn't realised that The Terrace offered so... More

What terrific museum venues, this is reason to go, but need to walk to these venues or wait for a bus - same with dinner, which was mediocre. We biked (rent one before), but it's hilly. Great view large room with deck (need more comfortable chairs). Great view. Very high price.

Getting in to the Benesse Oval takes flexibility of schedule and budget. We managed to get in on short notice by checking online daily. After a week, we scored a room in the Oval at Benesse. Naoshima is called the Art Island and Benesse is the hotel inside the Benesse Museum. Tadao Ando designed the hotel and museums. The only... More

This hotel is in four parts, all designed by Tadeo Ando and all a bit different. We stayed in the Park building, unaware that it was the least interesting of the four. The reason we stayed here was their website doesn't provide enough information, and then we found that we weren't able to access the other two more interesting buildings... More

Benesse House was expensive but it was a unique experience. It was an architectural marvel with massive concrete structure. The facilities in the room were interesting with slots to put away your toiletries and other stuff.

My friend and I rated at the Benesse House Park and enjoyed great views of the art park and the sea. Communication with the hotel before our arrival was not always clear, and our request for a set dinner was lost in the shuffle. The room was clean and very space-conscious. The balcony was great in the morning.

The wow effect behind some of the stark white/gray/concrete architecture is overwhelming... the hotel is a museum while the museum is an art work that is home other art while being a hotel... The rooms are pricey but very luxurious while being extremely humble. The views across the sea are regularly changed by passing ships and vessels and the continuous... More

Not very honest to sell this room for family... Not up to the standard you're paying for. They give you 2 single beds and refuse to even add children beds... Very disappointed. Expensive but the service is not up to it.

Benesse house was a unique and fabulous place to stay on Naoshima. It's very peaceful and beautiful. We stayed in Park. Our room had a balcony and beautiful sea views. The room layout was good, with high ceilings and a great shower. Though it had been cleaned it was still dusty in areas and the bathroom floor wasn't as clean... More
