The wow effect behind some of the stark white/gray/concrete architecture is overwhelming... the hotel is a museum while the museum is an art work that is home other art while being a hotel... The rooms are pricey but very luxurious while being extremely humble. The views across the sea are regularly changed by passing ships and vessels and the continuous... More

Not very honest to sell this room for family... Not up to the standard you're paying for. They give you 2 single beds and refuse to even add children beds... Very disappointed. Expensive but the service is not up to it.

Benesse house was a unique and fabulous place to stay on Naoshima. It's very peaceful and beautiful. We stayed in Park. Our room had a balcony and beautiful sea views. The room layout was good, with high ceilings and a great shower. Though it had been cleaned it was still dusty in areas and the bathroom floor wasn't as clean... More

First things first - Naoshima Island itself, and its various art sites are gorgeous, inspiring, and if you are in the area, the island is a must-see. Unfortunately, the main hotel on Naoshima, Benesse House, is majorly resting on its laurels. Every aspect of its service is overpriced 200% ($650 for a suite, $200-300 for a massage, $140 for dinner... More

Stayed at Oval Room 401 for 2 nights with daughter and sister. The setting was surreal and absolutely stunning. Front desk staff and housekeeping service were impeccable! Interior of room was a bit dated, but nevertheless clean and well equipped. Only gripe was the breakfast was really inadequate and selection was too few. Perhaps since breakfast lounge only serviced the... More

Stayed at the park in Benesse Hotel, with superb view of the sea and sculptures in the garden. Modern and very well functioning rooms. The whole atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed and service minded. Everywhere are small or large pieces of art. Just love it. To top it off, a great restaurant of Michelin quality (and price). Treat yourself... More

It should be a highlight of any trip in Japan. The island is beautiful, the architecture amazing. Certainly Worth spending some time (at least 2 or 3 days) to take the time and admire the art work (go also to Tashima).

When going to Naoshima, this is a must stay hotel! I stayed in Oval part that is the highest and have an amazing view! Try the spa that is also very good! Benesse Hotel offers a super convenient bus service from port to main museums and hotel! Definitely want to go back and bring my parents there!

Amazing panoramic views. They have a few art pieces here that are quite interesting. There are some art pieces that says you can't take pictures. They also have a cafe in case you need to replenish they have good food options and drinks. Worth the visit if you're also checking out other museums in Naoshima. Get there through the shuttle... A harmonious fusion of beachside, Japanese modern architecture and a contemporary museum. The rooms are have all the Japanese chic calmness one would expect. Excellent breakfasts and modern Japanese restaurant. The French fusion restaurant is more for locals wanting a taste of haut cuisine. The only niggle was shortage of lounge furniture on the stunning seaside deck - ideal for... More
