First, the view from our ample room was spectacular. And this is the ONLY place to stay on the mountain in Nachisan. Yes, Nachisan can become like a carnival, but if you stay there, you'll find times when the tour buses are gone and the peace and beauty of the mountain really shine. Regarding the hotel, shared toilets are Japanese...

You can't do much better for location than the Mitakisanso. You are literally a ten minute walk from most of the Nachi shrine and temple site. Nachi falls is five minutes walk (right as you leave the front door) and the rest of the complex is straight up the hill. The rooms are average size and fairly basic, and the...

It is probably more a small hotel than a minshuku. Room is a little small but functional. Dinner was delicious! One of the better meals along the kodo. Service was excellent and warm. Lady owner's came around to make sure the hot chawanmushi was quickly eaten before it turned cold! Would recommend this especially for those trekking that treacherous trail...

we stayed here at the end of our kumano kudo hike. the staff were very friendly and the info provided in the mini lobby helpful. the place itself was very tired looking and meals provided were ok but nothing special compared to others we had on our trip. the room was clean and Japanese style with the usual futon and...

We also were at the end of the Kumano Kodo hike and this place was a real disappointment. It's just very tired. It's got the same overt touristy/commercial vibe as the rest of Nachi. A far better option at the end of the hike is to stay in Kii Katsurra a 15 min bus ride away.

Overview; we quite liked this place but felt they could do better with just a few more smiles Arrival; arrived after a very hot, humid day of walking. Easy to find past the shops from the waterfall on the left. We were told about times for meals, bathing hours, the toilet location and taken to our room. It all seemed...

We arrived here at the end of a 6 day Kumano Kodo hike to be met by Japan's version of Basil Fawlty stalking the premises advising guests what they could and could not do. We were shooed out of the dining room while sharing a beer which "Basil" had told us to buy from the vending machine using notes, not...

My parents and my family of five stayed in two Japanese style rooms. They let us drop off our luggage before check-in and we hiked the Nachi Falls area. When we checked in, we had hot tea and tea cookies in our rooms. Our dinner there was the best meal of our trip, really special with wine and Nachi mountain...

After completion of 5 days self-guided walking on the Kumano Kodo trail, we ended up in Nachi-san which has a beautiful shrine complex and the highest waterfall in Japan. A short walk from the waterfall is this small hotel which has no sign in English but is easy to find. The rooms are a little dated but comfortable (we had...

Small lodging house and from our room we have a great view of Japan's highest waterfall - the sacred Nachi-no-Otaki. Very neat and clean with small functional bath house and traditional japanese rooms. Western toilets only on one floor but this is no drama. Our very hard-working and attentive host is a superb chef and the dinner served in 5...
