Stayed here one night as a part of a visit to Japan. The hotel bills itself as a ryokan which it is not as it is very large, with some cavernous inside areas and modern but in a great location with great views from the rooms. It has large rooms in a ryokan style but with balconies and we had a great meal... This is a lovely hotel with a fabulous location. We stayed there one night after our Kumodo Kudo walk before heading back to the big cities. The onsens are fantastic, both the indoor and outdoor, and the fact that they are open from really early and stay open till late, is a bonus. We stayed in Building 1, in a... More

I am so grateful that I randomly found this hotel for my solo trip in Wakayama! The onsens are perfect - the only setback is that there is no M/F mixed spa so that you cannot enjoy the nice view together with your other half. Highly recommend you to take a walk to the observation platform - just 10 minutes... More

We booked 2 nights here in a Japanese style tatami room with another couple who did the same. Arrived by train and enjoyed the shops on the way to the boat dock and on to the hotel where some staff were waiting for our exit from the boat and a guy and gal each took our wives luggage. We were... More

This is a very highly rated hotel so my friends and I decided to try this out despite the long journey from Nagoya and later to travel back to Osaka (abt 4hours local train). The pros of the place was that the food was abundant and excellent. Buffet breakfast had a good mix of western and Japanese cuisine to suit... More

The hotel is located in the middle of the sea with a stunning view of sunset and sunrise. We had a family room which can cater 6 persons. All the members enjoyed the stay. Food is great. The view at the private hot spring is nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. A family member has left valuable property in the room... More

I went there with my family including two young children. I think they like the hotel in general. 1. The hotel had helpful and friendly staff. Even some of them did not speak much English, they were patient to help us out. 2. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. I found their dinners are very nice, on par with some... More

This is a traditional Onsen hotel. The guests are pretty much all Japanese. English is spoken by one person at the front desk..the manager? but otherwise you just have to make yourself understood...everyone has fantastic customer service . The waitresses are elderly and adorable. We had dinner in our room one night and went to town the other night. I... More

Food was great, hot spring outside was kind of small for women but ok! I've been to Katsuura so many times and it was first time to stay here. It's the same way to get here by a small boat with Hotel Urashima. it was very quiet away from the car road. once must!
