I went there with my family including two young children. I think they like the hotel in general. 1. The hotel had helpful and friendly staff. Even some of them did not speak much English, they were patient to help us out. 2. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. I found their dinners are very nice, on par with some... More

This is a traditional Onsen hotel. The guests are pretty much all Japanese. English is spoken by one person at the front desk..the manager? but otherwise you just have to make yourself understood...everyone has fantastic customer service . The waitresses are elderly and adorable. We had dinner in our room one night and went to town the other night. I... More

Food was great, hot spring outside was kind of small for women but ok! I've been to Katsuura so many times and it was first time to stay here. It's the same way to get here by a small boat with Hotel Urashima. it was very quiet away from the car road. once must!

All the different components of the Nakanoshima Hotel added up to a wonderful, charming stay at this huge ryokan situated on its on private island. A courtesy ferry runs from the tourist pier to the island. When we disembarked, a line of hotel staff greeted the ferry and bowed to us as we entered the hotel. Visitors clearly come here... More

This is a fantastic place for traditional Japanese service, food, hospitality and most of all the onsen experience. Our room was in the traditional Japanese style and once we were kitted our in our yakuta we headed for our pre-booked dinner. Our hostess invited us into your own private room with views across the harbour and although we are happy... More

We stayed here for two nights with dinners and breakfasts included in the annex that faces away from the town...and it exceeded all expectations. Unique and traditional experience for westerners looking to see how the Japanese vacation away from their big cities. The food was incredibly fresh and the service from Masa was above and beyond.

I have to say the food and service here was one of the best I have experienced. The set menu we had in our room was of very very high quality. While the room was very new, when it comes to the facilities, it felt very tired. The decor of the lobby was like something from the 1980s and the... More

Hotel Nakanoshima is right across the harbour from Hotel Urashima, and is the smaller of the two. I picked Nakanoshima because I dislike large hotels that are crowded with tour groups. I was not disappointed. Nakanoshima has few facilities aside from two beautiful baths for each gender and a fabulous foot bath at the top of the island. Service is... More

We arrived at the the pier around an hour before sunset, the ride to the island was around 3mins. Checkin was smooth and quick, staff are friendly and helpful. We followed a route up to the hill for a nice view. The dinner (included) was lovely! We enjoyed lots of very fresh sashimi, tempura, abalone, beef, veg, congee and others.... More

Stayed here for one night in December 15. Appeared dated but that didn't detract from stay. Excellent accommodation. Private onsen for my wife and I. Were able to relax in an inside an outside bath. Probably best to go before dinner though! Sat outside in hot bath in winter watching the night - fantastic. Dinner was amazing with many dishes... More
