This is a pretty decent size hotel which was very different to what I had stayed in previously on the trip. That said the traditional Japanese room was lovely and spacious, had a lovely view over the bay and good facilities. On top of that the onsen was lovely, the food was good and plentiful and the chefs in the evening were really friendly lovely characters. What made my experience here special was the service I received at a difficult time. In the late afternoon I was stupid to lose some credit cards. I asked the reception staff if they could look out for them for me and within minutes of returning to my room in a very worried state the was a ring on the door bell and the hotel manager was standing at the door. He took me personally to the local police station, told the police about the problem and waited there with me for a good hour or so. Amazingly, thanks to staff at the Katsura Post Office and the Katsura police my credit cards were returned safely to me within a few short hours of my realising that they were missing. This was a very stressful time for me and I will always be very appreciative of the helpful, personal and professional service that was provided to me by the hotel manager and the other hotel staff. For all these reasons I would very much recommend this hotel.

We had a room with nice sea view, and quite large. The hotel offers very good western and Japanese buffet breakfasts. There is also an excellent value for money buffet diner, which we recommend to choose and book in advance. The hotel offers a nice indoor and outdoor Onsen next to the sea. However, the air conditioning in the room was a little bit old and noisy. The room and hotel in general were quite old fashioned and may deserve some renovation/modernization. The hotel also has a swimming pool (outdoor), located in a place that would need to be better cleant and better arranged.

Perfectly acceptable ryokan after difficult hike finishing at Nashi falls. Rooms large; in room meal complex and delicious - staff polite and friendly. Manager dignified and expedited baggage transfer that had gone awry and then when it did arrive kindly drove us to the train station in his own car! That kind of devotion to customer service may be common in Japan but to us North Americans it was extraordinarily above and beyond. Onsen really nice; value for services certainly a 5 star. Only minor drawback: wifi limited to lobby and even then could not access.

This hotel greeted us after we had completed the Kumano Kodo Trek after finishing at Hongu. Its got its good points (large rooms, nice Japanese style, friendly greetings) and especially the great outdoor Onsen which can cope with many! As a convert to onset bathing I loved the outdoor pools and views. Interior of the hotel is tired but not a major concern. The buffet breakfast is great and the omelette fantastic! Its close to the Tuna market (a lot better the Tokyo) and easy to get to from the bus or train stop. Mostly people will stay here for a short time, it doe the job and the food was good.

The onsen is huge and really good, both indoor and outdoor... the staff are excellent and maybe over fussy.... super and large breakfast buffet... the rooms are japanese style and one sleeps on the floor but its very comfortable... a large range of shops in the hotel and even an amusement arcade...its a short walk from what is frankly a very sleepy and most dissapointing town centre... nice beaches nearby though...its not a the hotel is not new but overlooks the sea and I would stay again
