This place was once the exclusive, luxurious inn with many historical figures stayed. Not anymore. However, if you are looking for an authentic hot spring inn (Onsen Ryokan) experience, for a reasonable price, this is still a good option.

From the moment I was picked up at the train station by the shuttle to my evening and morning meals, this was truly a gastronomical experience. The rates are higher than others, but with 17 courses (none of which are translated into English, sadly) it is hardly a "hotel" and more a culinary kitchen with beds. I had a massive corner suite, and most rooms I walked by seemed to be huge by western standards.

It would have been nice to have the evening and morning meals translated into a few...
