I booked this ryokan based on good reviews but quite disappointed. First, we went to outdoor onsen near the falls but theres so many flying insects (well, it's in the mountain, that's why) and we can't enjoy the place because of that. Somebody even saw a snake. 2nd, the pool is so dirty so nobody is using it. It's summer...

Amagiso was one of the finest ryokans we have experienced over the score of years we've been traveling to Japan. Hands down. This includes everything from posh city ryokans to village minshuku. The meals were exotic (as expected), but more importantly, the selection of hot soaking pools, including ones at the base of the adjacent waterfall, was unparalleled. If you...

The authenticity of this location is first class! The hot onsens, the oodaru waterfall, the views and the hospitality all make this place magical. The food here is again authentic which is great cause it is all part of the experience... But I would say bring some snacks as I personally feel hungry right now 😊

We spent one night with five friends in this onsen early April. The location is amazing, in the middle of a mountain area, about 20 minutes by shuttle bus from Kawazu on Izu peninsula. The reception was very friendly, the lady could even explain everything in English. The hotel rooms are a bit outdated, they could get some renovation soon....

The best onsens I've been to in Japan. They were simply amazing. The outdoor ones were right in front of the Oodaru waterfall, and there were several of them in case you don't feel comfortable sharing the onsen with someone else. Swimsuits have to be worn as it is outdoors and mixed gender. There are also many other kinds such...

I only took an open-air and house bath in this hotel Amagisou. Even though it costed too much which means its fee is 1,500 Yen in case of an open-air bath and 2,000 Yen in case of both the open-air and house bath, there was something worthwhile, coinciding with taking the open-air bath and looking at big waterfall. You...

We stayed one night in Amagiso. When we booked the price was very hight but we decided to have one special night of charm. What we found was a very old and run-down hotel, and a smelly bedroom with not even wi-fi. Although the hotel surroundings and the outdoor and indoor thermal baths are nice, it is far of being...

We came here after a nice 1-hour walk from Mizudare Bus Stop to see all the other 6 Kawazu Waterfalls. It was an amazing experience, feeling the cool spray of the fall while soaking in warm water, with the calming sounds of the river flow and the fall. For the 6 outdoor hot spring pools plus 2 in caves and...

I love the Izu Peninsular, its amazing that somewhere so close to the huge cities of Shizouka & Tokyo can have peaceful quiet places so close. We rented a car & drove down through the middle to Dogashima & then along the coast to Shimoda. We stayed at the Amagiso for 2 nights which allows you to arrive in the...

I've just found out that I hadn't written any review on this place so far. We went here almost one year ago but I can still remember... It's located in a kind of natural reserve, in the middle of the nature. We could see many wild species in those two days, we'd never seen before. It's just about 5-10mins from...
