My wife and I stopped by Sekiyou for a night on our way from Tokyo to Kyoto. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we experienced stellar service in a delightful setting. We particularly enjoyed using both the private and public onsen. There was an option for in room massage that both of us enjoyed very much.... More

Words cannot express how appreciative I am about establishments who strive to highlight the beauty of Japanese cuisine. Steamed, simmered, broiled, grilled, fresh and fried, you can taste the attention to detail that are placed to every single element of the dish. As we we have and will always be an Ryokan addict, the food is the epitomy of oyr... More

The stay at the Sekiyou Ryokan was everything i dreamt of visiting a traditional Ryokan for the first time. The room where exquisitely designed, the view was breathtaking, and the private hot spring bathtub amazing. But what really made Sekiyou stand out was the food and the staff. Both in a category for themselves 5+ stars.

We stayed there one night. The dinner isn't just another one served in common ryokan at hot-spring resorts, We enjoyed high-quality Japanese cuisine. The bath is not so large but modest, harmonized with nature, and comfortable. We are really relaxed. We should come again at the time the leaves turn in autumn.

We stayed there for 2 nights. Despite that the cost per night was relatively expensive, the environment, the services, the food and the rooms were superb. The only drawback was that it was situated slightly too far from the other shops and station. Thus a car is needed. However this has made this onsen more exclusive.
