A group of us English teachers travelled down to Minakami from Yamanashi for the rafting and canyoning day tour with an over night stay and BBQ dinner. We were meant to have been there by 8:45, but due to heavy down closing down most of the major roads, we only arrived at around 12:30. The staff were really great though,...

I have just spent a week at Canyons with a group of 26 sixth form students from an International School in Beijing. We were met from the airport and looked after for the week by Canyons staff. We went rafting, canyoning, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking and geo caching. The food was excellent, the rooms were good and the guides were...

My girlfriend and I did the canyoning and rafting trips. The guides were fantastic and we had a great time. I highly recommend taking the time to check this area out if you are ever in Japan. We did not stay at the lodge, but the staff was very helpful with transportation to and from the station/hotel.

The crew at canyons looked after everything from transfers from the train station, lift tickets and even rentals and a SB lesson for the mrs. The restaurant/bar has some great food and cold beer, the taco fries being a highlight. Rooms were big and warm and came with everything you need. For the price you cant beat it. Also, canyons...

It was my first time to go snowboarding at all, but in the Alpine Lodge they provided all necessary rental stuff, including lift pass, overnight stay and breakfast for a really acceptable price. Sure it was not the most beautiful hotel, located quite far away from a conbini or supermarket, and the rooms etc were equipped with the most necessary...

If you want to see some of the most beautiful areas of Japan but don't fancy staying in the typical resort hotel or ryokan, I highly recommend Canyons Alpine Lodge. We loved the laid back vibe, great food and amazing location right on the river - it was a great base from which to explore the quaint town of Minakami,...

The rooms are simple but spacious and the bar/cafe has a great vibe. The highlight is the staff of Canyons who go out of their way...
