Morino Garden is absolutely lovely. We were met at the train station and after a short ride, we arrive at the guesthouse and were shown our room. Basic - located on the main floor (no need to climb stairs so it was convenient), clean and very comfortable.

But from there - basic went to Wow! The common areas of the guesthouse were lovely however the gem of this place is the host/family! Yuriko and her husband were very welcoming and very sweet.

Located just outside of town in a serene setting, surrounded by fruit orchards and bamboo stalks. Morino Garden was very peaceful!

Opt for the breakfast (among other goodies, check out how the the fresh bread is baked) - our meal was delicious!

Lovely quaint place surrounded by bamboo forest and beautiful gardens and greeneries. Birds chirping greetings in the morning and light morning breeze. Clean and neat room and great morning breakfast service by Yuriko, do inform her in advance though.

Mashiko is a nice town to visit, especially during pottery festival held 2 times a year, the best time to go is in April. Bring hats (especially if it's sunny) and bags for the goodies bought, enjoy the eateries along the streets. Use apple/google maps and look for local eateries within walking distance and you'll find gems like a small udon hut managed by a lovely lady who serves seasonal platters you wont find in Tokyo. I'd advice for early brunch or dinner as the seatings are limited.

Higeta Aizome Kobo (Higeta Indigo Dyeing Studio), Shoji Hamada Memorial Mashiko Sankokan Museum are not to be missed. If you like sake, the Sake Brewery of Mashiko is worth a visit, at least to try out the different sake and coffee produce by the brewery.

A word of advice; always be polite, respectful and patient and you'll be greeted with the same courtesy. A smile is the best currency for greeting and reaching out to the locals even if you speak no japanese. And change enough yen. Cheers!

A joy to stay here. Family very welcoming, food was delicious, futons provided a comfortable sleep. Great Japanese hospitality, highly recommend anyone to stay here. The house is set in a rural environment near a large bamboo grove. It’s not to far from Mashiko town, and the owners are happy to drive you in and pick you up later. Wifi supplied.

We stayed with Yuriko in one of the upstairs rooms for 3 nights. We really had a wonderful time and the guesthouse is very easy to make your home. Definitely opt for Yuriko's breakfast if it is available - she is an amazing cook! Lovely and peaceful and very warm and friendly place. The hot tub is heavenly, make sure you use it. I will be visiting again! Yuriko is a wonderful host.
