We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour group. The hotel was another Ryokan style hotel, with tatami mats in the rooms (no shoes again!) but we were not going to be sleeping on the floor – just large single beds! And this was the very first hotel we had even been in that had a ‘fake’ log...

Staff spoke very poor English which was almost unbelievable as one of the best hotels in such a touristic area. Very little tourist information was provided and it looked a bit like the front desk staff never expected themselves to be asked such questions. Maybe it had something to do with their poor English. We booked a room with open...

For the area this is the best hotel, but for the money I didn't think it was really worth it. This was by far the most expensive hotel we stayed in during our time in Japan and whilst the onsen was great and the staff were super helpful, the rooms, decor and general ambiance of the place were not of...

My wife and I stayed at the main building room 451 of this hotel on 2016/10/06 as the second day of a guided group touring. The room was traditional Japanese tatami style. I gave this hotel a rating of 4 only due to relatively small room and heavy smell of cigarette smoking in the corridor. The dinner buffet and breakfast...

We checked in at 4pm, and were told that for dinner the kaiseki option was already booked out. Arrive early to snag a kaiseki dinner spot. The dinner buffet was above average with a great sashimi spread especially the aka ebi and ikura. The ice creams were great too, love the pumpkin and yuzu flavours. Onsen was very ordinary and...

We stayed here for two rooms and two nights. We were greeted gently by the door man and the grand but cosy Japanese style lobby. The receptionists are not very keen in English but they are very willing and tried very hard to help you particularly that lady with dimples on her cheeks. Further down the lobby on your left,...

While the hotel and its interior were not exactly new, its upmarket presentation gave it a nice cosy feel. The huge lobby, lounge and shops had an expensive touch to it, which could be easily passed off as a top tier international hotel. Mind you, this is Shiretoko, the edge of civilization, so it was nice to find such a...

We booked three rooms, two single one double. It is located in the centre of Utoro and facing the sea. We drove a hired car and there are plenty of free parking. Most of the staff including front desk staff cannot speak any English, so beware. Unfortunately there are no other decent hotel choices in the area. The hotel has...

The resort is by the seaside and I had the room overlooking the harbor. This is one of the resorts I have been that they have many choices for onsen and also provide you various kinds of shampoo, lotion and etc. They have some activity briefing in the briefing to introduce what to do in summer and what we might...
