As an AirBnB Superhost myself, I know that a good host can make a huge difference to one's trip. That's why I gave my trust to the highly-reviewed Sendan, and planned to use it as a base to see the entire Okinawa. I had quite high expectations for Sendan, and Sendan still exceeded my high expectations in every way. The people are the best part of the guest house: From friendly chats with the resourceful and kind aunty to the uncle who always dresses and works profesionally as the chef, you will have a place to call home in Okinawa. The spacious rooms are well structured and you'll find everything you need from coffee, wifi, desk, to toothbrush and TV. It's perfect to stay in Sendan for a few days and explore the aquarium, the hills, and many other islands. Don't rush in and spend only one night here. The truth is, you must come back home for dinner every day- uncle will throw lovely surprises to you every day at the dining table, from fresh sashimi to delicious beef don. Oh, I have to stop here, I want to go back and have my dinner at Sendan instead of typing this message!

I can't say enough good things about Sendan! We arrived after a slightly harrowing afternoon in which we discovered that we could only type in Japanese in our rental car GPS lol. After finally finding our way we were tired and a little grumpy, to be honest, but the owners welcomed us with open arms, fed us an amazing meal, and several beers and dessert later we were truly looking forward to the rest of our trip. We had three meals there...dinner once and breakfast twice, and everything was amazing every time. She is a wealth of knowledge about the food you're eating, the history of the property, and the trees and flowers outside. If you're concerned about not speaking Japanese, don't be. They lived in London for at least a decade and both owners speak fluent English. I was a little concerned about the cat on the property, as my husband has allergies (I didn't see that they had one until after booking) but the rooms are completely separate from their residence and there were no issues at all. We stayed in the traditional Japanese room and, while I'm grateful for the experience, I've determined that we need a little more cushion for our middle-aged backs in the future lol. Every amenity is provided in the room, from soap to a hair dryer to an extra toothbrush, just in case you forget yours. She even provided shampoo and conditioner in western brands so we would know what we were using. The room is absolutely spotless, there's a small fridge with water and tea in it, free of charge, and a gorgeous deck to sit outside in the evening and enjoy the peace and quiet. I love staying in local places and getting a local experience. You can't get that at big resorts. If you want to make your trip to Okinawa even more memorable please stay here. You won't regret it!

We didn't stay at Sendan, but had a wonderful meal there for my family of 4. Food was fresh, properly sized, value for money, and surprisingly done in a professional way. It was a surprise because one wouldn't expect such from a "home" based B&B. The restaurant part was well organized and kept clean (my 7 year olds verified), despite assuming the whole establishment was maintained by just the owner couple that welcome'd us like family. Go there, before the owner decides to call it quits.

Chose to stay in this guesthouse as it's just 15 mins walk to Churaumi Aquarium and 30 mins' walk to Bise Village. There are also some restaurants along the way. We stayed in the 2-bedder room for 2 nights. The room is clean and has a balcony. Amenities such as shampoo, shower gel, hair blower, kettle, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc, are all provided. Breakfast was delicious. The hosts are friendly and helpful. We did not have a car so the lady host suggested places for us to visit and also helped us arranged taxis which charges us a fixed price which is cheaper than going by the meter. Recommend to stay here if one wish to experience a bit of local life.

A lovely little two room guest house located a short way up the back roads off the main street that runs by the Ocean Expo Park and Aquarium. It's run by a very friendly and charming couple who speak excellent English and will go out of their way to make your stay in the area as comfortable as possible. The two rooms are spacious, very comfortable, and very clean, with all the convieninces you would expect in a big hotel. The twin room is ideal for those who prefer western style accommodation as it has two semi double beds and a private balcony to relax on and enjoy the view of the night sky accompanied by the sounds of the local wildlife. The tatami room is perfect for those wanting a more tradtional Japanese experience where you roll out your futons over the tatami mats to sleep on. Breakfast is what you would expect from a high-end Japanese Ryokan, perfectly cooked and meticulously presented. It is possible to visit this area without a car (as we did). From Naha Airport you can take the Yanbaru (YB) bus to Hotel Mahaina Wellness Resort. The bus drops you off (and picks you up) in the hotel driveway. Walk back down towards the main road, turn right and then take the next right up a small back road. There's a sign pointing the way to Sendan Japanese restaurant - follow it, that is the guest house. It's about a 5-10 minute walk. To get to the Ocean Expo Park and the Aquarium from the guest house it is about a 10-20 minute walk.
