We live on Okinawa and wanted a little getaway for a long weekend. We picked the perfect spot! Having our own car and a lot of our own wine/liquor was a good plan. The owner was such a sweet man who speaks very good English and his wife cooked us some of the most amazing food we've had in our 7 years in the Ryukyu Islands. We loved the views and the resident cats and dogs were super friendly and we loved them! If you can handle the communal bathrooms, don't forget your robe and shower shoes. No TVs in the place- very romantic. Couples only- no kids. We'd definitely go back but would bring our own pillows. There's nothing bad to say about this place. We thought the room price was fair with the amazing breakfast and dinner included. Alcoholic drinks were extra...but we weren't worried about it. If you are thrifty, you might want to bring or go get your own. The island is small and the beaches are beautiful. This is a great place to relax for a couple days!

We stayed at the Four Rooms for 4 nights in April 2013. Firstly I would recommend having a hire car to get here. We didn't so the journey involved a 2 hour bus journey from the airport in Naha (around 2200 yen per person on the highway bus) then a 20 minute taxi ride (3500 yen). We had room F which I would highly recommend. Amazing view. Amazing. The room was clean with a nice balcony complete with hammock for chilling. Sheets were extremely starched (stiff) but we got used to them. Disappointed to find that the high price didn't include an ensuite. 2 toilets and 2 showers are located at the end of the corridor. This wasn't a problem for us as we were the only guests for most of our stay, however I wouldnt have been pleased waiting on a shower or loo considering the 27700 yen per room per night. Note that only one shower can have hot water at a time and there is a fine line between scalding and freezing. Dinner and breakfast is included in the price and the food was awesome. 4 course dinners including many local ingredients. Beer is available at 700 yen per glass. It's the local Orion lager which is nice and we also sampled the bottle of red wine at 3500 yen which was also tasty. The owner speaks English and has 2 bikes that you can rent for 500 yen. Although built for tiny people (the seats don't adjust) and are very rusty they do work... although I wouldn't push them over too large a distance. There is a roof terrace with nice views and a jacuzzi which you can drink alcohol in. We ended up walking 10 minutes down the road to the local shop to buy beer at 200 yen per can and drinking that in the jacuzzi. There isn't much to do on Sesoko Island hence my recommendation for a hire car. There is a nice beach 20 minutes walk from the hotel and another under the bridge. We didn't have great weather the second day so we walked to the famous Aquarium. Its a long way though... 8km each way through a lot of concrete terrain... However the upside is that you pass a good local supermarket where you can stock up on more local beer for even less than 200 yen ;) Aquarium is ok, whale sharks were very cool but the rest is average. The quality of the manatee, turtle and dolphin enclosures was pretty depressing. Back to Four Rooms. A few final points: Firstly a note to animal lovers - the owners of Four Rooms have 2 golden retrievers and 2 cats. All very friendly. Secondly, payment must be in cash. On mainland Japan we had been getting cash out at 7 elevens where the ATMs accept non-Japanese cards. There are no 7 elevens on Okinawa and the local equivalents had ATMs that took Japanese-only cards. However there is a post office in Motubu across the bridge from Sesoko Island which has an ATM that accepts foreign cards-it's about a 30 minute walk from Four Rooms. Finally we found Four Rooms on trip advisor but struggled to find a website. It's Four-Rooms.jp. The website is japanese but you can find an email address on there and book directly with the owner who speaks English. So to summarise... Very nice place with excellent views and food. However, I think the owners are pushing it with the price.

It is hard to fault this place. A wonderful experience and end to our trip round Japan. Absolutely stunning view of the turquoise water of the East China sea from our bedroom window and only a 10 minute walk from a white sand beach. The rooms were exceptionally clean and each one had a separate hammock on its own private balcony. There was a roof top hot tub that was shared between the rooms, but as there were only four rooms in total we never had to share with other guests. The one thing that stood out about this place apart from the wonderful luxurious atmosphere was the food. Watanabe's (the owner) wife was an exceptional chef and i have not eaten food this good in the UK even in top quality restaurants. Each meal had four courses and was an absolute delight to sample. Breakfast and dinner were both included in the price of the room and whilst there are no other restaurants nearby so it would be impossible to go elsewhere for dinner, i would not have chosen to eat anywhere else! Okinawa island itself is not the most picturesque of the islands, but there are a number of lovely beaches nearby that the owner reccommended to us and there are ferries to other islands from Motobu port or from Naha port if you need to get away to another island. I would reccommend this hotel for a few nights of pure luxury and relaxation. The owners were so welcoming and the atmosphere was perfect. A truly wonderful experience which i would love to go back to one day! Kate and James
