We stayed at Kamoshika Lodge for a week to ski and it was fantastic. Huge open living area with a massive dining area and kitchen. We stayed in the 6 person bunk room which was more than comfortable, great bathroom and we were never cold despite the freezing temperatures

I took my wife and 3 kids to Japan for their first ever visit to the snow. We chose the Kamoshika as the snow is literally at your doorstep. With three kids, the youngest age 5, I figured that would be a good thing - it sure was! A couple of hours on the mountain, ski back to

There are 2 airports (Narita and Haneda) recommend Haneda is the best. Here is our recommended routes. How to Get to Nozawa from Narita Airport. 1. From airport you go downstairs (right after leaving customs hall… DON'T GO OUTSIDE the airport, the station is in the airport terminal) - train station is down the escalator (you can take the trolly down the escalator) 2. Take the SKYLINER - fast train) to UENO station. NOT TOKYO. But going to UENO you cut out Tokyo. (Buy a ticket at the counter in the basement where all the trains leave from) - about 45 min trip. ..... Can use credit card. 3. Leave the UENO station and turn left. Walk 50 meters and cross the road going into the JA train station. (this is where you get the SHINKANSEN (bullet train) - buy a ticket to IiYAMA Ask for JUSEKI which means free seating - you just sit in the carriages marked free seating (usually carriage 1 to 4) (this ticket takes you from Uano to Iyama. - Bullet train is about 1.5 hours At IYAMA - There is a direct bus waiting at the station to bring you to nozawa from there. Or jump a taxi -$50max Train from Hanneda Take the Mono rail from airport to the end of the line - Hamamachucho station. (17min) Change to Yamanote Line (green line) to Tokyo Station. (3 stops only) (4min) At Tokyo station go to JR office and buy a ticket to Iyama. Ask for JUSEKI which means free seating - you just sit in the carriages marked free seating (usually carriage 1 to 4) OR you can get allocate seats or green seats (bus class) or Try the Super First Class GRAND CLASS seats. Bullet train is about 1.45 hours There is a direct bus waiting at the station to bring you to nozawa from there. Or jump a taxi -$50max
