Clean cosy budget place, we loved our stay there. Our Japanese room with private toilet was spacious & Resort In Toemu provided sushi takeaways, shabu-shabu & Sukiyaki etc. Order 3 hours in advance for same day preparation. It's a lovely stay but feel the need to point these out to aid manage expectations: Wooden floors & thin doors meant you... More

Nozawa Onsen was my favorite place that we stayed during our 2 week holiday to Japan. Its a cute little onsen town where everything is within a 15 minute walk away. The staff and guests we met a Resort in Toemu were very friendly. Only one staff that we met spoke English well, but the owners were very trusting and... More

Nozawa Onsen is a cute little village with good, if a bit limited, skiing. We really enjoyed our days there, but Resort In Toemu is quite basic and didn't really deliver a lot of value for money. Room was very basic, had no window and though clean seemed quite worn. Hard to get the right temperature and you sleep on... More

We had a family room overlooking the pretty snowy rooftops - staying with our 7 year old twins for seven nights. The room was clean, light and spacious enough with futons set out on the tatami matting and the kids treated it as a fun slumber party. The kids also really enjoyed their onsens. Our stay coincided with the annual... More

Stayed 5 nights with our 2 year old son. We had a private toilet and shower so cannot comment on the communal ones. Elderly couple who run the place are very friendly and accommodating even though they cannot speak much English. They had a part-time employee who spoke English well so this helped. Place was always clean. Only complaint would... More

This place was average. We stayed in this ryokan, 4 friends in one room. It was a very good location to the slopes, just a 5 minute walk or so to the lift. Sleeping on the tatami mats was quite comfortable and they had extremely plush down comforters. This was my first ryokan experience but others have told me that... More

Only stayed 1 night. Basically we needed a bed before going on to Sakaya in the morning. We arrived late and the host was able to get us to the room quickly. Room was large and clean. They have a communal shower/bath area, but feels fairly small for the amount of people this ryokan can accomodate. They have a BIG... More

Enjoying a great stay at Toemu. The tatami rooms are large and comfortable and the family and staff are very friendly and helpful. The lodge has a lounge area near the entry for relaxing and internet use with complimentary tea / coffee and small shop for snacks. The lodges own Onsen rooms are also quite good in case you don't... Rooms looked good and very clean. Breakfast was overvalued. You had to take it 7.30 to 8.30 am. If you wake up late, there wouldn't be enough for you. It was cold and not worth the Y1000 . I suggest you go to thel restaurants where you can order a warm breakfast instead. My second day , I arrived at... More

We just returned from a great three-night stay at Resort In Toemu with our three kids aged 10, 8 and 6. We took a family room and it was a really good size for all of us, which is difficult to find in Japan. The futons-on-the-floor style bedding was like one giant slumber party for the kids, they loved it!... More
