The family-run Maruji lodge was an incredible experience of Japanese hospitality, with every effort to make guests comfortable for their stay in Nozawa. The lodge has traditional Japanese rooms, comfy common areas to enjoy a hot sake or draft beer, and even its own in-house onsen. It is a short walk (less than 5min) to the gondola for skiing or...

I had an excellent time staying here- the room was lovely, clean and spacious, the location was perfect and the family made you feel right at home. Situated right at the base of the mountain, it's a brief wander either to the gondola or the restaurants and shops of Nozawa. I would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone travelling to...

We had a fabulous family holday at Maruji which is located only a short stroll from the bottom of the gondola. Beautiful roomy Japanese style rooms and fantastic western or Japanese style breakfasts. There were plenty of English speaking staff to help us organise ourselves for the slopes and Iain runs a terrific ski school, our 9 year old boy...

- This lodge is owned and run by a local family with a history in Olympic skiing - there are many trophies, awards and photos in a cabinet on the ground floor. - The rooms are Japanese style tatami rooms, very spacious and with comfortable futons and a good heater. There are really nice panoramic views of the surrounding valley....

Friendly staff, great food and close to the gondola. Maruji is definitely the place to stay when I come back next year. Mornings included western or japanese breakfast and also they had their own onsen which was super convenient when its snowing heavy outside. The Sukiyaki dinner was a highlight for the trip, just have to give the staff a...

The traditional Japanese guest house is in a fantastic location at the bottom of the slopes and has easy access to restaurants and onsens! The family, who don't speak much english, are very inviting and more than willing to help with any questions that you may have. Iain was excellent at making our trip worry free and went out of...

Great traditional Japanese experience. Run by a Japanese family as well as some English speaking staff. Iain went out of his way to help us out and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Only a short walk to the slopes making it an ideal location if you are skiing/snowboarding. The breakfast as well as the traditional Japanese dinner was...
