So we just left Echo Hotel after staying 7 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. The location is great and walkable to plenty of restaurants and bars. The Hakuba Base Camp is a couple of minute walk down the road for all transport needs. Plenty of ski hire places close by. The hotel itself was great. The most comfortable beds, great water pressure, fantastic breakfast, ski room and a nice bar. We had the delux double so apart from a large bedroom (compared to usual Japanese sizing) we also had a good size lounge and plenty of storage. The staff were mostly winter casuals but very friendly and accommodating (and also entertaining). But the stand out was John (manager). Apart from driving you to the ski fields in the mornings, picking us up on arrival and dropping us off when we left, he was the go to person for information on the weather, the best skiing areas each day, tours etc. Always around and ready to help. Do not expect a 5* hotel but they don’t profess to be that either. It is a comfortable friendly hotel that I would absolutely return to. …
Fantastic hotel centrally located in Echoland. Walking distance to great restaurants and the shuttle buses to the slopes. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast is great and the staff are exceptional!!!
in all my travels around the world I have to say the service, support and accomodation to guests was the best I have experienced. John leads the team and they all super friendly and there to assist in every way to make your stay in Hukaba the best it can be. Highly recommend this accomodation Echo Hotel. Rooms were massive, breakfast extensive and delicious, complimentary shuttles to the main mountains across the morning (Saves having to get the shared village buses). Pool table, video machine. Definitely coming back
We booked this hotel via snowbeds and dealt directly with Koichi himself, who picked us up from the bus terminal when we arrived in Hakuba. John and Koichi were both very knowledgeable and made several recommendations which we loved. From dining to which ski resort to go to, they know everything. We will definitely be back.
I recently returned from a ski trip to Hakuba with 13 friends and while we did not get the chest-deep Japow that we were searching for due to an unseasonably mild winter, the staff and accommodations at the Echo Hotel made our trip a 10 out of 10! The hotel has everything one would need for a great ski vacation and the ancillary services were top-notch. Everything from the organized bus transfer from Nagano Station, to perfect room setups, delicious free breakfast, onsite ski storage, free daily mountain shuttles and fun onsite bar were fantastic. In addition, the location was perfect with plenty of dining and nightlife options within walking distance in Echoland and most ski resorts just minutes away. Lastly, John, Koichi and the entire staff were so hospitable and accommodating. We even had a member of our group go down with a dislocated shoulder and John was amazing - coming right to our aide in helping us organize a trip to the local clinic and physical therapy appointments. Staying at the Echo Hotel is a no brainer for anyone considering a ski trip to Hakuba and we cannot wait to return - hopefully with deeper powder next time!…
