This was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan and a reason for returning to the Kiso Valley. The warm welcome and attentive service at this beautiful ryokan were memorable. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic and would delight anyone who appreciates refined dining. beautiful presentation, and exploring new dishes. After dinner, one can further unwind, listening to American...

This is a beautiful traditional ryokan in Kiso-Fukushima, one of many post towns on the ancient Edo period highway from Kyoto to Edo (Tokyo). Our room was a bit small for 4 people, but was comfortable and clean. The rest of the in is elegant. Highly polished dark woodwork and beautiful wood furniture everywhere. We were only there for about...

This is an excellent stay in its own right, but...

The exerience you are making in the ryokan are somehow very special. Sleeping in the traditional japanese hotel was very interesting. We enjoyed this experience. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. We will definitly not forget this two days we have spend there.

The dinner was classic Japanese kaiseki - superb quality and eaten sitting at a table saved my knees, breakfast was also top quality (I have stayed at top ryokans in Kyoto and this is the...

Such an oasis. The stuff incredibly nice and welcoming and the food an art by itself - so much respect in it's presentation and the clever use of local ingredients that we smiled with joy as we ate, by the way it is an eight courses dinner...truly very good. This great ryokan that is hidden in Kiso-Fukushima is not designed...
