After a quick stay in Niseko, we traveled to Ryounkaku for an wonderful Central Hokkaido ski trip. It was awesome! We were only planning to stay two nights, but because the skiing is so great right out of the onsen, we decided to stay two more nights. This place is located at the highest point in the area, has amazing... More

We went here just for the Onsen experience after a day skiing. Traditional Onsen with outside hot spring bathing. The water is muddy and full of natural minerals and the view across the valley to the high mountain range is stunning. Go there late in the day to enjoy the crispness of the air and the sun setting on the... More

We stayed for one night in early February and as long as you know what to expect, this is heaven. 1. The hotel -- this is a 50-year-old traditional ryokan. This is not a posh boutique 5-star establishment and it never claims it is. It doesn't charge first-rate hot spring resort prices either. Thus, it's only fair to comment on... More

This ryokan is located at the top of the mountain between Biei and Furano. It was about 30 mins drive up from the Blue Pond and it was like a trip up to the heavens due to the descending fog. The hotel is 1,280m above sea level. We reached at sunset and the view was breathtaking. We could not resist... More

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

We checked in on the 8th August for 1 night. We have twin beds while others with 3 and 4 sharing slept on tatami. The room looked old, chair cushions were stained and furnishings old. Neither air conditioner nor an electric fan was provided in the room. We could only open 1 leaf of window with netting. Indeed, it's high... More
