There is a lot to like about this hotel in terms of charm and good food. The public spaces are lovely with lots of areas to hang out. It is a non-smoking hotel. The room had a nice counter by the window. BUT it is quite expensive for what you get. The onsen is ok, but the one at Bear Monte is much nicer. (overall, Bear Monte had a much fancier feel). The room was adequate but hot without the ability to do much but sort of open a window. The pillows were overly firm for my American tastes. There aren't a lot of outlets for charging your devices. I am not a skiier and we weren't there during ski season, but in the off season there isn't much to do once you've taken the ropeway and explored Mt. Asahidake. And I think you definitely need a car. We planned to use the bus from Asahikawa but did not know the schedule changed on Oct. 1 and missed the last bus. We ended up taking a taxi (about 9000 yen). The walk from the hotel to the ropeway (and the Bear Monte) is 10 or 15 minutes. The only place to get lunch is at the ropeway. Overall, I would have chosen to either stay here only one night or to stay in Asahikawa and rent a car or take the bus to visit Mt. Asahidake. The woman at the front desk had enough English to get along. She was also the evening hostess at the restaurant so could help you there as well.

Hotel Deer Valley is a nice little hotel. It is very clean, quiet and cosy. Staff may not be exceptional in their English but they are polite and friendly. Would like to stay here again in the future.

Personell superficially friendly, do not like foreigners, clearly visible with waiter and cook; food very good, rooms ok, however you understand every word spoken next door. Ideal location for hikes at the Asahidake area.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel nestled at the side of the mountain where the luscious mountain greenery & cool breeze invigorated the soul. It is easily accessible as the bus from the Ashikawa JR station stops right in front of the hotel. If you drive, there is plenty of free parking in the lot. When I walked into the hotel, I could sense the warmth, cleanliness & coziness of the facility. The staff members were kind & helpful but what we enjoyed most was the variety of deliciously cooked foods served buffet style for breakfast & dinner. And we had a surprise treat each evening of a specially prepared dish that was not on the buffet! The cook worked diligently through the clear glass window in the kitchen. Our room was spacious & comfortable by Japanese standards. A note of caution to those who cannot walk -up stairs; there are no elevators, so you need to request for a room on th main floor. We enjoyed our onsen experience at Bearmonte Onsen Hotel, the sister hotel as well as the onsen right in Deer Valley. This hotel will be on my referral list!

The hotel is spacious, lady at the reception was really nice! Travellers may want to take note that there’s no lift, we carried out luggages up to the rooms by stairs. We stayed at level 3 room, lovely view in the morning. They have a nice lounge area at level 2, with tv & music player. Nice cosy onsen too. Very very clean!
