New owners, great menu, lovely local community, with a quirky little added extra of a train track around the bar with a little train chugging around. Bar staff and waitresses are really friendly. It's well worth a visit for either the night or two or just for food. Well done new owners it's back to the good days were people... More

I have been visiting this pub since 1973. It was a small sleepy fishing hotel with a small bar then. Later it got opened up and a very fine restaurant was opened. It won the best pub award more than once I believe, the food was superb, then unfortunately it went down hill and I stopped going. I was looking... More

It gives us as owners and our staff great pleasure in hearing that customers which used to visit the grapes when the place was one of the most popular pubs in Wales saying that we are going in the right direction and almost already matching it's hay days, thank you! With regards the chips, and I agree, chips are very... More

Quaint little 6 roomed hotel and pub in the heart of Wales near the lush Snowdonia Park. The Grapes hotel is in the small village of Maentwrog and is co-owned by a husband and wife team who are extremely hospitable and friendly. Although we struggled to find it with the poor signal in the area it was definitely worthwhile with... More

After stopping here a number of years ago it was nice to return as even with new owners it hasn't lost it charm or it's amazing Pork Belly Ribs, will be back soon. The new owners are working though the repair list as it was sitting empty for a while but nothing to stop the enjoyment of our stay.

Visited on 5/8 and found the food to be delicious and plentiful. Although they couldn't find our party a table in the main restaurant, we were more than happy to sit in the bar. The staff were pleasant, the beer great (had the snowdonia ale but was surprised to see Doombar - another great!) We were made to feel very... More

Thank you for your review and were so pleased you found the food to be delicious and plentiful. So sorry we didn't have lamb on the menu when you visited, a selection of locally sourced produce such as lamb are usually on the specials board at least three times a week including welsh lamb on Sunday's. We look forward to... More

We used to eat here 40 years ago and many times since. Like a previous reviewer, we have seen the quality of the food go from great to poor and various levels between. Had lunch there today - only club sandwich, prawn sandwich and side order of chips, but they were very good (and large). Other meals looked good too.... More

Great pub with excellent location and garden amenities with stunning views. Beers and wines are exceptional and the food a wholesome gastronomic feast. The experience was that good we went back the next night. Found out they also do breakfasts, so tried that on the third day and was satisfied for a full day out in the stunning mountains. I... More

Wow what a difference a few months makes. Great to see one of Snowdonia's best pubs back to its best. I have visited the area many times over the past few years and always make a point of visiting this pub. The new owners are doing a fine job of keeping the best of the old and bringing in some... We are delighted the Grapes has re-opened as this is our not so local local! The new owner is really attentive to detail and customers needs, the new staff are excellent and welcoming. The bar, lounge and dining area's have been given a makeover which has made great use of the space whilst retaining the character. Really great to see... More
