I used to visit this establishment many years ago when visiting this stunning part of Wales and was never disappointed, always a great ambience along with good food/ales. Revisited after refurbishment and again not disappointed with new owners approach to good food served in nice surroundings, will definitely be back.

I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst exploring the area. It is located in a relatively isolated small village on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, and is within easy cycling or driving distance from Blaenau Ffestiniog. The room was reasonably sized, and the modern bathroom had both a bath and generously sized shower. The bed was comfortable...

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The room was a good size with a very large, separate bath and shower room. The windows were single glazed so there was a bit of noise as vehicles passed by, but given the location, there really was not much traffic. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food...

We stayed here completely on spec as a previous hotel had messed up our booking so we were in a panic to find somewhere for the night - we found this place luckily and the management were incredibly accommodating, giving us their last two rooms for us and our children. Rooms were brand new, really clean and well furnished. Food...

Last time we stayed in Maentwrog it was being refurbished so when we returned we made a bee line for it. As we had our dog with us we had to sit in the bar, not a problem. Food came quickly and couldnt fault it. We had the smothered chicken, steak pie and fish and chips, all piping hot and...

Used to eat and drink here whenever I was in the area many years ago. Later when visiting the area it always seemed closed and then was shut down. Called back in last week and was very impressed with the set up. Chose to drink there three times and eat there twice. Great beer and plenty of places to drink...

Tried to book in Porthmadog but the Festival 6 was on, so had to look for a hotel that was near. Found the "Grapes" - Glad we did. All the staff were friendly. Food was VERY Tasty and the wine was good value. We stayed in room # 6 (Bit ironic !) which was very comfortable and a great view...

Having review like this means so much to us, having had to virtually start from scratch since the hotel closed in January and re build the grapes, gives everyone even more determination to ensure this hotel will be back to its glory days and to be the best pub/restaurant/hotel in Wales. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you...

To be honest we only stopped here for lunch because a nearby pub had no parking spaces. However we were pleasantly surprised to find things had improved from a previous visit. The garden, which is a little overgrown, was still nice to sit in on a hot day with plenty of tables and umbrellas. Safe for children and dogs. Can't...

New owners, great menu, lovely local community, with a quirky little added extra of a train track around the bar with a little train chugging around. Bar staff and waitresses are really friendly. It's well worth a visit for either the night or two or just for food. Well done new owners it's back to the good days were people...
