The special thing about the hotel was the food. The dinner was amazing. Course after course. They just kept coming. Each course small and beautifully presented, so you ate a wonderful diverse traditional meal but did not eat too much. The breakfast was also beautifully presented. The private onsen for 2 on the roof was a joy. We had snow...

I've been to 3 Ryokan's so far, and this one was by far my favourite. The dinner was incredible. The breakfast was good but not as great as the dinner. The facilities were traditional with modern flare, very clean, and very comfortable. The view from our room was breathtaking. You can see the entire town complete with a scenic mountain...

This was the first time we stayed at a ryokan and didn't know what to expect. The hospitality was great and the traditional dinner and breakfast was a bonus. It snowed when we were here and made the stay more memorable. They have English speaking staff which makes communication a lot easier. The public onsen is great and well decorated....

Arriving at Yudenaka station fromNagano, we were met by a driver who took us on the short 5min drive to the Ryokan up a slight incline. Snow was everywhere. The Ryokan was everything I expected and more. Clean traditional rooms, good size, an almost 24 hour Onsen with inside and outside baths, and breakfast and traditional dinner included. English was...

The Ryokan Biyu hotel was absolutely amazing...the best place we stayed at (and the most welcoming staff) of our whole Japan holiday! Firstly Yamanouchi was just what we needed. A very quiet town, easily accessible by JR and then local trains. This hotel had everything we were after. Pleasant staff (special thank you to Mika, Charles and Won) and traditional...

Staying at this ryokan was one of the highlights of my trip to Japan. I booked my stay here for a one-night trip to Nagano to see the monkeys at the Snow Monkey Park. I had never stayed in a traditional ryokan and was excited to learn that a full, traditional dinner was included. The trip to the area included...

As the title says, this is the best hotel we've been to in Japan, Australia or anywhere else. The service is outstanding with Charles even getting someone to drive me to the 7-eleven to get cash as we'd run out sightseeing the day before we needed cash to catch the train to Nagano. The traditional Japanese dinners and breakfast were...

Ryokan Biyu No Yado was an amazing experience as soon as we were picked up, the hotel's driver gave a big warm smile! After dropping off our bags, the driver wanted to make sure we were able to see the snow monkeys before it got to late. The whole staff made us feel welcome there and everyone there was so...

We had an absolutely amazing time here. The staff were super friendly and made us Aussies feel truely welcome. Experiencing a true Japanese Ryokan should be on everyone's list of things to do in Japan. Sleeping in the Japanese style room with traditional bedding adding to the experience. The onsen was very relaxing and a great way to unwind after...

I got displaced to Biyunoyado from another Ryokan as the one I was supposed to stay, the heater broke down. It was a blessing in disguise as Biyunoyado was a very pleasant Ryokan, very well maintained, nice lobby, with welcome tea, amazing service staff, great 12-course dinner and the onsen although not big but adequate and very clean. Rooms are...
