We felt like VIPs the entire time. This beautiful, traditional Ryokan had everything we could hope for, and so many quality elements we could not have dreamed up. The design of the rooms, onsen, and lobby with its wrap-around floor to ceiling windows felt calm and Zenlike. The comfort of relaxing in the unique Yukatas, eating the artful Keiseki meals... More

We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by our names the moment we arrived at the hotel. The warm reception and dedicated staff assigned to help us oriented in the ryokan room has indeed make us settled down comfortably. The private onsen at rooftop is wonderful but the air is chilling, for 40 mins at 1800 yen for 2 is... More

What a location, and what an outstanding group of people who are involved in delivering a service to hotel guests. The hotel owner has a policy of employing staff from around the world and this really pays off. It is a tradition Japanese hotel and has a public onsen in the basement and a private onsen on the roof. We... More

I came here with my family and we had a fabulous time. The rooms are nice and the staff is absolutely wonderful and very kind. The food here was especially terrific! It was so delicious. I highly recommend this ryokan. A lot of great things to do and see in the area as well like snow monkeys and apple picking.

I recently stayed at Ryokan Biyunoyado as a repeat customer and it did not disappoint. The staff checked us into the "Issa" room, which was designed by the owner's wife, Yuki. The room is gorgeous and is very Japanese in style but with a western bed and modern leather recliners for relaxing. The hot spring bath is out on the... More

The best Ryokan in Japan. The staff are extremely helpful. With a couple of young ladies at reception being the best we've experienced yet. The private rooftop onsen is just magical on a cold October night. The view from our room was stunning watching the fog roll down from the mountains. The meals were traditional Japanese and every dish was... More

The ryokan experience was really authentic and comfortable, and staff made every effort to ensure we felt at ease with any areas where we might be uncertain e.g. food etiquette. We really enjoyed the food, the relevant clothing, and the furnishings such as futons - in fact we enjoyed it more than we expected. The level of hospitality was truly... More

Every detail was excellent. This is a visit into real Japanese history ad culture. I highly recommend this hotel as a stop or destination for anyone looking to get off the beaten trail. The owners wife personally greeted us and made sure we felt welcome and they had a variety of personnel who spoke English which was a huge help.... More

I can not say enough good things about this Roykan. Staff, amenities, food and overall hospitality could not be better. I would love to come back again. It was a relief to be able to speak English while still being respectful of travelling in another country. The staff work hard at educating the guests of customs and traditions.
