We stayed here for six nights Feb 2019. The Nagaden bus stops right outside the door unfortunately we got off one stop early and had a ten minute walk. Our fault we were told to get off at the Inchinose ski field but we got off at the Inchinose town stop. We had sent our bag full of ski gear direct from the airport with the Black Cat company and it was there waiting for us. The staff organised the reverse for us on the way home. Kodak’s is a very relaxed older hotel. The rooms are large the Onsen clean and the food is just amazing. Take the breakfast and dinner option you won’t be disappointed. Every night is different with a huge traditional Japanese meal. The people here are very focussed on making sure you are looked after. Poppa SAN Sugo is a great guy and works hard at keeping standards high. We did a day trip to see the snow monkeys. The front desk staff arranged the return bus tickets for us and made sure we New where we were going. In true Japanese fashion it all worked perfectly. We would definitely stay here again as it just happens to be located so it’s ski in and out an added bonus !

We have stayed at Hotel kodama maybe 10 times over the last 15 years for family ski holidays... It is very familiar for us and is slightly higher standard of room sizes and comfort to many hotels in the area.. The dining experience is terrific with a set menu every evening of traditional Japanese cuisine. We fine that this hotel gives very good value for money and is ski in ski out which complements all of the above . This local area peaked as a ski resort area 20 years ago and has not had significant investment due to declining support from the Japanese ...together with the numerous options available to skies in the Nagano prefecture... Shiga Kogan is one of the largest fields with a great variety of runs for all level of skiers.. Lack of bars and street dining doesn’t concern us ,at the end of a big day out and an excellent meal all we want to sleep in our comfy beds ready for another great day of skiing....

Thanks to previous TripAdvisor reviews we were able to get off at the right bus stop at Ichinose Ski Field_ the hotel is right infront of the bus stop. The ski rental shop and the Diamond ski field is just infront of the hotel. That takes the stress out of skiing here. Lots of snow here and a cold spell to boot. Check-in is at 3pm_ unfortunately we had to lug our heavy bags up the stairs from the 4th floor as the locker room is on the 5th floor which is not served by elevtors. May be a better idea to leave them at the lobby! The room is spacious with adequate amenities. Breakfast is actually at 7am_ important for us as we need to catch the Nagaden bus at 8am to Nagano on our day of departure. The bus stop is just to the left of our hotel. Have to drags bags over the thick snow though. Dinner was included in the price we paid_ it was massively full on Sunday 11th Feb 2018 but less the following 2 nights. Excellent food and different every night. Love the food. Alot given everynight. The onsen was small but okay I guess. Would definitely reccommend this hotel to everybody.

sure it's not 5 star but if you are in shiga kogen to ski (which is probably the only reason anyone would be there) it is perfect. location is perfect. right in the middle of the ski fields and next to the ticket counters. hotel has own ski gear for rental though limited. but there is a big ski rental just across the road anyway if needed. a little dated but comfortable and clean. dinner was excellent. no choice of food ie fixed menu but good food. breakfast was not as elaborate and slightly disappointing compared to dinner
