This was a last minute decision, as a friend and I were visiting the nearby Snow Monkey Park. The Executive Managing Director picked us up, drove us to the resort, showed us around and even scheduled snowboarding rental equipment for the following day. Her English is excellent, and many of the staff members also speak English. The resort Onsen are very relaxing (both indoor and outdoor), and the chairlifts to the mountain peak are a short walk from the hotel. (I did not personally ski, however my friend did and enjoyed it immensely...) I will definitely come back and possible even try the Ryokan also owned by the same group at the base of the mountain.

We were pleasantly surprised with this awesome destination in the mountains. We had originally planned a day trip to see the snow monkey and loved the area so much we decided to stay. Shiga Palace Hotel / 2307 Yokoteyama is on the slopes, literally right on the doorstep. We had dinner, stayed the night, and hit the slopes the next day. They had all the rental equipment there as well. Easy to get to and had all the amenities for an easy great trip. Can't wait to go back. Super friendly staff, English speaking. They also have a "snow monster" aka snow cat that offers rides on weekends.

Loved the location and setup. Typical Japanese style Ryokan. The room we had booked had a Tatami sitting area. While it was advertised that American style breakfast is available, we were served only Japanese style. The staff tried their best to make the vegetarian option for us. While we did not visit for Skiing, really liked the proximity and got a great view. We experienced snow during last night of stay

We arrived on bicycles, this hotel is in big beautiful mountains which are listed on UNESCO. The front hall was charming and especially in Winter season after skiing must be a romantic place with a big fireplace. The staff were very kind and helpful. In the first floor is conviencestore, that you can buy smt extra. In the room was everything what we need. We were exhausted of cycling so dinner alá bufet was perfect. You can eat a lot of tasty food - japanese and western style too! It's same for breakfast. If you want, you can use classical onsen for relaxing

We came in autumn to explore the Shiga Kogen UNESCO eco-park. The hotel is located right in the heart of the area. The receptionists were very helpful with parking our touring bicycles and we could do a pretty hike to Mt Yokote straight from the hotel (we hitched a ride to the top cable car). Their English was limited but we managed together The hotel itself looks nice from the outside, which is already a rare quality in Japan! The lobby is fabulous, there’s a huge fireplace which must feel super cozy in winter :) Our room was practical, warm and a bit dated but had everything we needed. The onsen is also very nice. Food is in a buffet style for both breakfast and dinner, which means you can eat enough for all the sports awaiting outside! The only thing we had to laugh about were quite low ceilings and doors, I’m 183cm and had to bend quite often ;-P The best feature is the little convenience store right by the reception!
