This was ideally located to visit the Snow Monkey Park. It is a traditional Japanese hotel offering a great Japanese experience - half board of Japanese evening meal and breakfast - the hotel also has a number of onsens which were great to use. There was little else at the hotel in terms of facilities. It did have a shuttle...

This hotel was in a perfect location to visit the snow monkeys. We were able to walk there in 30 minutes right from the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We reserved dinner ahead of time and it was delicious - so many courses! The hotel picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. It...

We came at this onsen in order to visit jugokudani monkey park. That was amazing. We were on honeymoon and the staff was really lovely. They made us a souvenir photo of our dinner. It was so nice !! The dinner is amazing. As beautiful as good! There are two "public" (only for residents) and two private baths which are...

This was a very solid ryokan experience, not the best we've had but still very nice. The multi-course dinner especially was very good. Our 10 tatami room had a nice balcony. Their inner courtyard garden was small but pleasant to walk around. The private soaking areas were relatively large, with the outside part overlooking a hill.Service was very good. It's...

A great ryokan experience in the snowy mountains of Japan. We had a lovely time soaking in traditional culture, wonderful, elaborate meals, and calm, beautiful surroundings. Located a small walk through the woods to see snow monkeys, this ryokan was one of our Japan trip highlights, and comes highly recommended.

Fine dining, picturesque views, beautiful garden, professional classical musicians, high quality baths. While the rate is higher end, Hotel Senjukaku represents excellent value. The Japanese restaurant was extremely good also. Hotel Senjukaku will cater for young family members. Small yukata are available. The restaurants will kids meals with kids cutlery and seating. The private onsens (there are two, Y1500/45mins) can...

Loved everything about ryokan and only 30 min walk to monkey park. They will pick you up and drop off at train station if needed. I stayed with my daughter and both of us enjoyed the onsen and Japanese style continental breakfast in morning. Very welcoming and gracious.

The ryokan is located right next to the Jigokudani snow monkey park so it's convenient and the perfect location to start off our roadtrip in Nagano. The ryokan itself is good, but not exceptional. Having stayed in many other ryokan, this one lacks a certain personality and everything is pretty "standard". Having said that, the rooms are comfortable, bathroom and...

We stayed at this lovely place in order to be close to the Snow Monkey park. You could not be closer at such a lovely place. The Japanese style futons and onsens were a delight at this establishment. We used the private facility family onsen and enjoyed the food here. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Warm and welcoming ryokan with good food in a beautiful setting. While not super near the ski slopes, this is a lovely winter retreat. It is a traditional ryokan - fixed meals, schedules etc. but generally we found the staff helpful. Only one issue where the staff refused to help us set up the bed for our young daughter who...

“Higher floors have better views. I was hoping for a room outside of the main building, those have 3-4 floors. We had a room at the ground floor, they told us it was the only one available. Rooms are probably all fairly similar but the view is probably nicer on higher level. Our room had the bedroom with a low table during the day, a smaller sitting area with sliding doors that can be closed, and balcony.”
