Lovely small town, with dense forests surrounding it and snow monkeys nearby full of friendly people. The ryokan itself is a beautiful old building, with to wooden traditional private onsens which are very relaxing and aesthetically pleasing, these are gender separated. The owner is very friendly and helpful as well as being a wonderful cook! Both breakfast and dinner were...

The location is not the best - have seen much better BUT the nice owner Kazuhisa is always willing to help and make your stay as comfortable as possible. I came to photograph the snow monkeys and Kuzahisa drove me there and back every day for 5 days. I felt that it wa really very generous of him and I...

7 of us stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the stay. The rooms are clean and spacious. The oldies in our group found the mattress a little thin, sitting/sleeping on the floor a little challenging, so having a chair or two in the rooms would have been very helpful. The thermal bath (onsen) is a wonderful experience. Hot water in...

We stayed for 2 nights with two kids. Had stayed before as a couple and did it disappoint this time. Owner very friendly and drops you off at the entrance to the park to visit the Snow Monkeys. We also had a kyuudo demonstration in his dojo and ate in one night for a wholesome basic kaiseki meal. Need to...

We stayed 2 nights here and enjoyed this old timey inn very much Rooms are spacious and clean - with tatami mats and futons and both japanese style and western style heaters. Bathrooms are not attached and are shared on each floor. They were clean however and I found this to be much less of an inconvenience than I had...

The place is small and cute. Very affordable, budget type. What really makes the place is the owner Mr. Miyasaka. Would stay again. We tried the public bath that is in this district, and it was really hot. Luckily they sell coupons so we could try the baths at other hotels and they were fantastic..Fun trip

My stay here was one of the most genuine experiencies I had during the 8 months period I lived in Japan! A typical ryokan with japanese bath house (onsen) and a kyudo dojo! The sensei is a very kind and welcoming person who showed us the art of japanese archery and even let us try our strength streching the bow!!...

Yudanaka is a very beautiful small town at the end of the train line. It is confined by a valley and is surrounded by mountains. Further up the valley there is a ski Hill that looks very good. It seems Japanese people come here to relax and onsen, as there are 20 or 30 public baths (natural hotspring fed) in...

Very basic, affordable, friendly, cozy. Walking distance to the village. The owner was super friendly and helpful accommodating our family of 5. The optional breakfast was good. The in house onsen is the real deal. The traditional Japanese archery demonstration is also worth checking out.

This place could easily be the best experience of my 1 month trip. The ryokan feels old and simple. I'd say that is a plus. It feels very real. The onsen was delightful. The owner spoke excellent english and was beyond friendly and accommodating. He went out of his way to make sure we were well, way more than I...
