The hotel only has 4 superb river side cottages and the constant personal touch from the owners (Karan and Isa) is constant and brilliant. The meals were so well done (we were even served a dinner outside our cottage as a surprise one evening. Porridge and coffee are served before the early morning safari trips and a welcoming G&T always...

This incredible place delivers so much more than the tiger sightings and other animal joys. Our stay at Christmas 2016 brought my son and me an epiphany of experiences, the result of amazing attention to detail in caring for guests. The staff, service, and accommodations could not be more soulful or exquisite. This was a real treat for us and...

We spent 3 amazing nights at Flame of the Forest Lodge and it was an absolute highlight of our trip. Karan Modi and his wife Isa have created a very special destination and they have an incredible team working with them. We were lucky enough to have Imran as our Naturalist and he was exceptional – not just his knowledge...

We went to the Lodge after three days at the Samode Safari Lodge, proper five star but clinical. The Flame is in a rural setting on the river side.A fabulous welcome and introduction to the lodge. The build is based on a local farm building style and was built by local labour and using local materials the whole thing reeks...

When we arrived after a long drive from Pench all the staff were waiting at the front of the lodge to greet us and they had cold towels and a welcome drink. The lodge has only four cottages and ours was number one closest to the main area. The room had a spacious sleeping area with a king sized bed...

We stayed there in March. Cottages are clean, spacious, and well furnished. Food was good. The naturalist was knowledgeable. The tiger viewing was good. Atmosphere is relaxing and quiet. Owners were not present when we were there but Jenny did a fine job of pinch hitting for them. Highly recommend Flame of the Forest.

We had met Karan in Dec 2008, on our first visit to Kanha National Park, which also was our first to a wild life park in India. He was the naturalist who took us around. We were very impressed by his enthusiasm for conservation and love of all things in nature, were they living beings or just a spiders web shimmering with...

Enjoyed the rustic out door shower after a hot drive. Lunch served under a sprawling tree was delightful. Naturalist Imran was wonderful, knowledgeable and amusing. Breakfast served on the bonnet of the vehicle was perfect with Sandwiches, fruit, juice...

Beautiful location, really comfortable accommodation, easy going atmosphere, delicious food and very welcoming owners and staff. The naturalist driver guides take you from the lodge to drive around Kanha National Park - they are filled with knowledge and enthusiasm and determined to show you as much wildlife as possible. Flame of the Forest, situated about 15 minutes from the Kanha reserve main gate. A fabulous rustic style lodge designed and run by its lovely owners Carin and Asa, and situated by the side of a river. Built from locally sourced materials, in a particularly charming manner, this small and very friendly resort is definitely one to return back to....
