We had a wonderful time during our stay at Needles, Denis, Gail and Lyn made us welcome from the very start. The rooms were large, clean and well maintained. Every evening meal was a joy, a communal table with everyone mingling and chatting, including our wonderful hosts. Food was excellent and the bar extensive (Maybe something to with Denis being an avid rugby fan). Evening meals were often interrupted by zebra, kudu, bush buck and warthog, wandering on the other side of the veranda railing. Game drives were all day events with good, knowledgeable guides. Keep it going guys. Fabulous. Hope to come back and see you again.

Property's Favorite Review
Needles is a trully gem settled into the bush where you have daily visits from Kudus, zebras and even giraffes. There is even a Bush Baby family resident on a wood house by the restaurant lounge. There are only 8 rooms so is pretty secluded and quiet, where you really feel at home. The rooms are extremely confortable, with Air con and the free goods in the fridge just shows how thoughtful is the service. Hands down to Tobe the Chef and all the team, the food is superb (the calamari was one of the best we ate ever). The dinner is the time where the guests can seat at the lounge or at the boma under the stars to chat and have the most pleasent conversations with the owners Denis and Gail, where you can learn so much about the animals and the environment. Besides the Kruger Safaris, you can do mornimg or sunset walks around the Lodge, and if you have time they can arrange for you even tours to Mozambique and many other places. When you stay inside Kruger you get very expensive lodges with very simple accommodation and no meals included. We thank Dennis, Gail Tobe and all the staff for the memorable stay! We hope to be back!!

We have visited Needles Lodge 8 times. It has become one of our yearly get-aways only interrupted by covid. But not surprising, all was as we remember it! It's as if 3 years didn't pass by! Denis,Gail and Lyn do an amazing job making sure all guests are accommodated whether it be for the varied game drives or for dietary restrictions. The staff are just lovely, always smiling and willing to help in any way. Beautiful zebras, kudu, and warthogs come by to say hello. Once in a while giraffes may also come by to say hello. There are adorable bush babies that live in the ceiling of the deck that make appearances in the evening. I'm just highlighting a few of the wonderful things that happen at Needles. If you choose to stay there, you won't be sorry. Also, dinners are great and guests get to know each other before dinner while having drinks and sharing their days experiences. The greatest vacation ever! We visited Oct 22

Once again, an unbelievable stay at Needles Lodge...my 8th time visiting this unique and wonderful place! The owner, Denis, with his wife Gail, Manager Lyn, and staff go above and beyond expectations-- including gourmet meals. They organize all the game drives in Kruger Park whether it's an all day drive, morning, sunset, or night drive. Also, a terrific experience is the early morning bush walk which can be scheduled. Several of the animals frequently visit the Lodge including bush babies which come right up to the veranda for a closer look at the guests! I even brought my son and his girlfriend with me to experience South Africa and they said it was a magical experience and loved every moment of the trip. I'm already planning another visit next year; I can't get enough of South Africa's beautiful countryside and lovely people!

We had an absolutely amazing time at Needles Lodge. We travelled around South-Africa for 3 weeks, and this was our highlight! The lodge is cosy, with spacious rooms. The dinners are of good quality, and the atmosphere wonderful. The guests and all the staff are very easy-going, fun to be around, and welcoming. The lodge arranged all our activities. We stayed for 4 nights, and had 3 days to spend in Kruger. We went on 2 full-day game drives, 1 bush walk and 1 sunset safari. We enjoyed all of the activities and saw an astonishing amount of animals. A special thanks to the guide (Tjan -- maybe we wrote his name wrong) who took us on the 2 full-day game drives. He was very knowledgeable, and enthousiastic. He could spot the animals from far away, and went out of his way to show us as much as possible. Going on a gamedrive with him is an absolute must during your stay at Needles. In short, thank you for the amazing experience. We hope to be back some day! Kind regards, Koen & Marije

From the moment we walked through the door, to the moment we sadly said goodbye, Denis, Gail, Lyn and the team made us feel right at home. The group dinners on the deck, complete with resident bush babies, were a wonderful way to end each day. The food was absolutely delicious, even our special dietary requirements were no trouble at all. Each evening we also looked forward to meeting the surprise dinner guests who wandered up to the deck to say hello; zebras, warthogs and bushbucks were all regular visitors. The rooms were spacious, clean and extremely comfortable, with a great view of the grounds. The game drive they organised for us, including the extremely professional and entertaining driver, was an obvious highlight. Seeing the big 5 almost 3 times over in the one day went beyond all expectations. We would definitely recommend a stay at Needles and look forward to returning ourselves in the not too distant future.

This is wellness for your soul. We had a calm and pleasend stay, after we were welcomed with fresh juice. The needles Lodge is part of a big park of Lodges next to Kruger (gate Malalane 20 minutes, gate Crocodile Bridge 20 minutes) The Rooms are quite beautiful. In the evening the owners will have dinner with all the guests, so we had 3 times an international dinner with interesting stories from all over the world. Allready told you about the food? You can tell them your preferences, they will cook a nice 3 courses menu for you even if your are vegan or you love the meat like a Lion. The result is every day delicious. If you are not at Kruger during the day you can relax at the pool, which is not getting more than 23 degrees. A perfect refreshment under the sun of ZA. The first hours we were afraid of the snakes, because it is a big snake area, but you don't have to be afraid of. Doors to your rooms are always closed and the staff knows nearly everything about snakes, raptiles and animals. We also got an expert Tipp from the owner where the chance to see rhinos at the Kruger will be high. So we decided the next day to go to this place with our own vehicle and we were very happy to see 3 big rhinos in front of us. All in all we could see the big 5 within 3 days. Thanks a lot for this stay.

WOW! What an incredible experience! A warm, friendly welcome greeted us all at Needles Lodge. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We were all fascinated by the lodge's resident bush babies and it was a privilege to be sitting at breakfast or relaxing by the pool with zebra, kudu, warthog, impala grazing happily nearby. The food was simply delicious! A number of dietary requirements in the group were catered for which was much appreciated. Braai in the boma was a highlight! Our guide, Tammy, was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and her genuine excitement and enthusiasm when we spotted various animals and birds made her an outstanding guide. All our game drives were unforgettable experiences - we saw everything (think cheetah, leopards, elephants, wild dog, lion, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, the infamous honey badger and birds galore and so much more) you could wish to see and more. This was a return visit to Needles for some and a first visit to South Africa for one! We did not want to leave and will most definitely return.
